"it's a sweet communications device with a very sweet form factor."
Pros: Excellent communication device. Nice, smooth operatios (like Wi-fi to Edge swtiching)
Cons: Voice. The quality of the headphone, speaker and headphones.
Summary: Well, I have the Nokia E61 and the Cingular Blackjack as well but I wanted try this rather new HTC.
The size factor for this is amazing. It could not be any smaller with a slide under keyb. I'd perhaps dump the front keys and just have the slider keyboard and put the extra space for more display.
I love how Windows Mobile 6 handles Wi-fi, Bluetooth, Pop3 (gmail), ActiveSync/Exchange, etc. Setting it up was a breeze (I have Cingular subscription). it's a sweet communications device with a very sweet form factor. Cannot get a smaller _userfull_ enterprise device as far as I know.
The con for it is definitely voice quality. Earpiece, Loudspeaker and even the headset product a bad voice quality. Murky, breaking voice. I compare this to Cingular Blackjack and Nokia E61 and it's inferior. I just ordered a new Bluetooth headset which I hope will eliviate the issue.
I dont think missing 3G is that big of an issue. This guy has edge. I tested connecting my laptop to the internet via this device and the blackjack (3G device) and the speed difference wasn't that significant. I used speedtest.net to measure and 3G/Blackjack was 340kbits/sec versus Edge/S710 was 214kbits/sec. Both using the same Cingular subscription. I only ran these tests once so it might be subject to variances, etc.
Anyways, hope you enjoy this review.
