Pros -Smooth interface
-Amazing Ultra wide angle front facing camera
-Excellence build quality
-Excellence battery life
Cons -Lag of Apps compare with iOS or Android platform
Summary The HTC 8X have redefined the Windows Phone experience, my last Windows Phone(Windows Mobile) device was the HTC HD2 a few years back.
The ultra wide angle lens of the front camera is simple fantastic, it can take in so much more and making a self taking group photo easy. The main camera does not have as much features as on HTC One X+, however, it work very well in low light situation, and does take great photo as well.
The Beats audio experience is the best of all windows phones up to date. It perform best when it is play pop and jazz, it simple like you are in a concert or recording studio.
It also run as smooth as silk, everything just done in a snap. The design is just stunning, nice curve, good grip and excellence screen.
For business user, you will have the best MS Office experience with the office mobile and exchange synchronization in all mobile. Another features is the auto sync with windows 8 device using Microsoft account.
Overall, this phone is great for both work and play. Redefined the Windows Phone experience. It a great phone to have!
Pros - Amazing Design
- Inclusion of Beats Audio
Cons - Lack of apps
Summary Looks & Feel :
The styling of the phone is truly inspired by the Windows ecosystem depicting various colours. But unlike most Windows phones available in the market, HTC has seriously made attempts to make it stand out in the crowd.Be it the tapered edges which makes it feel extremely thin and comfortable to hold or the extremely light weight chassis which makes it one of the most lightest phones available.
Similar to its Android counterpart, the use of polycarbonate makes up to a delightful feel in the hand.
Software & UI :
The fact that this phone has been made by HTC together with the Windows team has ensured the most smoothest experience of Windows 8 as compared to others. Be it the opening of apps or the updating of tiles, everything is picture perfect.
For someone like me who has been not the Android ecosystem since the beginning was a smooth transition and find it much better here.
Though one thing that might bother some of us is the lack of apps but most major apps are available or have a replacement.
The camera on the 8X was the first thing to catch my attention on this mighty beast. The amazing front facing camera is one of the best in the class and thanks to its ultra wide angle which assures you that no one will be missed out in the frame.
The rear camera is almost identical to the one on the One X+ with an incredible shutter speed. But I did miss out a few features I have on my One X+. For now it can be overcome by use of apps like Camera Pro which seamlessly integrates into the native camera app. But I would like HTC top port these features in the upcoming updates.
Battery Life :
For me with 3G on and with normal call time gives me a day and a half of juice. This includes about 2 - 3 hours of playing one of the most addictive games like Wordament. For heavy users the phone would easily last a day.
Video Playback & Music :
The 8X can play full HD content and thanks to the amazing integration of Beats Audio, listening to sound is a breath taking experience. To make the most out of your phone use a pair of Beats headphones.
The phone is a great option for existing Windows Phone users who wish to upgrade and also for those who want to make a transition from iOS or Android.
The phone seamlessly syncs with your Windows 8 PC. Mac users can also enjoy these goodies by downloading their desktop software.
Thumbs up for HTC for creating a masterpiece.
Pros Windows 8 phone communicates nicely with a Windows CP.
Cons Battery drains quickly when looking for reception
Poor reception in many areas
Poor overall reliability
Summary This is my second phone. First one would get hot and discharge randomly. After discharging, a hard reset had to follow. Verizon quickly replaced. Second one, same thing....5 hard resets later...I am looking for another cell.
Pros - Slim Size
- Cool Colors
- Smooth OS
Cons - Battery Life
- Notification Lag
- App store confusion
Summary I have had the 8X now for over 5 months and enjoyed the nuances of the Windows Phone 8 OS and the integration it promises.
Th main problem of WP8 is that in the effort to save battery life Microsoft has created a system that does not have instantaneous updates. For example if I get FB message it could take 30 minutes for me to be notified! I have had this happen with other apps and if the choice was yours to wreck your battery life I may let this go, but i cannot. The problem lies in optimization which definitely is lacking here.
No you may say that this is not really an issue with the phone itself, but the OS is the heart of the phone without it the phone would be a brick.
The hardware is nice and scrolling is smooth, I love touching the phone and delighted in using it. Camera quality is nice but not amazing. Sound quality was really good. The concept of total integration is nice but google does it better currently.
I was delighted until my text messages started having it's own issues. There is a bug or I am not sure what even causes it but randomly I cannot text certain numbers, adding them to contacts or just resetting the phone sometimes helps or waiting 30 minutes usually really helps.
Do you see a theme here? They should really call it the 30-8x because if you have 30 minutes then you will love this phone.
I really did try to love this phone especially since HTC already had me angry with another phone they abandoned.
Microsoft has a little ways ago before it can truly be an independent OS that people will want over Apple and Android.
