The Bottom Line Plagued by a bulky design and poor call quality, the I-mate Jaq can't stand up to the competition of other Windows Mobile smart phones. Similar to the I-mate SP3i, the I-mate Jam is a fun multimedia-capable smart phone. That said, the lack of a keyboard makes it better for reading e-mail than sending it. Some minor design issues and multimedia quibbles aside, the Motorola Droid is the most powerful and fastest Google Android device to date. It fully embraces the openness of the Android platform and offers Verizon customers a smartphone that certainly rivals the other touch-screen devices on the market. The iPhone 3GS doesn't make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement. While the I-mate Jaq3 offers a number of improvements over its predecessor, this Windows Mobile smart phone falls way short of the competition with poor performance.
