    "SP3i = terrible quality"

    on February 19, 2005

    Pros: The phone has great features and runs Windows Mobile for Smartphones 2003 Second Edition. Unfortunately, the functionality is unusable because of hardware failures.

    Cons: SP3i quality and i-Mate service both suck. After six weeks of use, my i-Mate SP3i is completely inoperable because the joystick and soft button keys are unresponsive. The joystick is the only method for navigating many screens, and the soft button keys

    I was sold out on the phone concept/design & went against the advice given by many. My experiences are the same as found in many of the forums. The joy-stick is a nightmare to navigate, now it just pops out. The soft keys are not functioning. The key pad paint rubs off. The keypad backlight illumination is dim. It does not sync with Lotus Notes, even after buying the mnotes 3rd party software. All these problems in just 2 months time. The Club-imate / Call centre service is pathetic. These problems I'm facing being based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the Headquarters are located, the misery of the rest of the world, I can surely imagine & empathize. If you value your hard-earned money, stay away from this brand.

    I like my SP3i. It is quite easy to use and flexible. Sometimes it does feel a bit fiddly but with all the features that should not surprise. There are thoughful touches like the flight mode and the Mp3 player feature is very good. I would buy another.

    it is very surprising what you wrote above, i have been a heavy user of the i-mate SP3i and i think the device is great. yes there was a joystick problem but it is fixed under warranty, and i even bought another device for my wife last month and it doesnt have that joystick problem anymore which means they fixed it.
    i-mate's service is one of the best, you can fix all your problems online, and their support staff are etra professionals. please mention one vendor that provides such support ?!?!?!.and for your information i fixed my device at their US service center HTC USA Texas and not in the UAE as you mentioned. double check your info before you ******** people my friend.
