Pros Nothing. Absolutely Nothing.
Cons Everything. Customer Service. Kyocera. The way I was treated by Kyocera.
Summary On 11/29/12 my power button broke. I sent the phone to in to be repaired. Kyocera claimed it was fixed & sent it back to me. On 1/25/13 the SAME power button broke again. I sent the phone to be repaired. Again they claimed it was fixed and sent it back to me. On 5/6/13 the SAME power button broke for the THIRD TIME. I sent the phone in again. Kyocera reps told me it had to break one more time before they would replace the phone with a new one. They claimed that the phone was fixed again. On 9/19/13 my Hydro's power button broke for the FOURTH time.
I called their customer service again fully expecting that finally I would be taken care of and they would "no questions asked" send me a new phone. I WAS SO WRONG. They wanted me to send my phone in once again to be "Evaluated".
A month later I called wondering where is my new phone? I get the run around day after day. I was told once that Corporate has to approve it now... and another time It is still in the repair center being evaluated. No one knew where my phone was or cared. Finally, yesterday I get a package from Kyocera with a phone in it. This phone was NOT my phone (which I would have been furious to receive, because they odviously CAN'T fix it!) and NOT a new phone (which I was told I would receive numerous times by kyocera reps)
The phone I received was not only someone else's used phone, but it had blue paint on the back of it! It was marred and get this also connected to a previous owners service! I was getting someone else's private calls and text messages on a phone I should have never received!
Pros -good screen quality
Cons -drops calls
-freezes fairly frequently
-no screen lock when on a call
-very short battery life
Summary I am saving up my money to get a new phone. This phone absolutely frustrates me!
It runs Ice Cream Sandwich
Cons Poor quality, warranty and service, can't read barcodes due to the camera, can't set # of rings, layout of phone screen, TOO sensitive proximity sensor - interrupts your call OFTEN, on/off button tends to break. Won't Sync with Skydrive/Dropbox.
Summary Had problems out of the box and had to send it to NY for repairs. It took OVER 2 MONTHS to get back. This after calling Kyocera and they said they "expedited the repair". Poor, poor, poor, customer service! Asked to speak with supervisor and they wouldn't let me. Figure if it doesn't work, your out the money you spent on a phone. The above problems with on/off and proximity sensor appear to be quite common on this phone from reading other reviews.
Pros Water resistance is a huge plus when getting wet. Works fairly efficient for entry level phone and functions are very responsive. Voice dial works perfect. Screen resolution is clear & sharp. Web browser fairly quick.
Cons Not sure if it's every touch screen phone, but this screen for texting is terrible (too sensitive), I still prefer actual buttons for texting. Could use longer battery life. Could use a more powerful processor for higher video playback resolution.
Summary Since the Hydro is my first smart phone I can't really give a good fair comparison against other brands but I am know there are much better phones out there for a premium price. Overall i do believe it's a great value in it's class for the money. For anyone who has nothing good to say about this phone, then they were fools to believe they were going to get the performance equivalent to an iPhone for a fraction of the price.
