Oldie but Goodie

Pros: Just about everything you REALLY need. Sure, color would be nice, but for day to day scheduling, email & phone use. Its tough to beat. Bigger than many, but easy to use. What's the attraction of a tiny phone anyway!!?

Cons: I've had 3 of these before I got one to last, but when you get a stable one, its worth it. Backlight is basically unusable. Ringer needs more volume. Voice and speed dial memory occasionally disappears. occasionally

I've had very few problems

Pros: Great features and battery life. Great to up-load from your computer.

Cons: Had phone for three years. Only problem was when I dropped it and broke. Insurance of $3.95 replaced it with new one. No problems since.

Has Big Buttons for my Big fingers

Pros: Great amounts of storage for all information you could need. Can take a licking and keep on ticken. Used in Construction and subjected to great amounts of dust and numerous impacts.

Cons: Needs a louder ringer. When driving with music on radio, can't hear the ringer. Tried all of the combinations of rings and still to quiet.

Cons: Audible ringer is too low when worn on hip in car and radio on or windows down, must keep on vibrate. If battery dies my phone goes haywire when plugged back into charger, must remove battery then reinstall to get things working right(if you are a daily r

Best Phone I've Had in 7 years!

Pros: PDA functionality, plenty of memory (8MB) for most users, good product info available (try www.pdaphonehome.com or www.qcp6035.com)for user support. Awesome battery...I have had this phone for over 3 years now and the only thing I'd trade for would be the

Overall: Very Nice

Pros: Have had the phone about 10 months. With Alltel, the coverage and reception is great. Only dropped 2 or 3 calls. The speakerphone is wonderful!

Cons: It is a large phone with a very small keyboard - difficult to use when you are on the run. I've had to reset the phone a few times, but only lost info once. Had problems early on with the screen displaying "jibberish". Took it back to Alltel, they were un

Went through three replacements in two years

Pros: Not too many choices in canada. Makes Keyocera look good.

Cons: Had my 6035 replaced three times for the same problem: The flip disconects the mic and can only use a headphone. Warranty repair too slow and useless.

Cons: I wish the screen was color. The phone is a little on the hefty side, but it way less cumbersome than a PDA and a Cell.

Okay, but there are better out there

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I love the cutting edge in phone technology. I was one of the first to own this phone and have for about ~2years. Pros: Many features, too many - but nice to have. Address Book , Memo Pad, and Calander has become essential features that I can't live without. Good way to impress others. Great service, I've been with Verizon for 5+ years. Cons: Green and black display gets old, tacky, and is hard to see at times. During conversations longer than 5mins+ the phone begins to heat up, although not painful but it is annoying and scary when thinking about radiation and such. No freehand note pad, the use of their style of writing is difficult to get used to and very annoying (slow). The number pad on mine doesn't always work. Either due to over use or too much pressure, it would fail to pick up on my key punches. (Palm has an internal dialer to negate this problem.) Speaker phone is shotty. Very good to listen to, but difficult to speak into. Internet link sucks, 13.3 kps! Very slow and the browser is difficult to navigate. There are other phones with better internet hook-up. No text messaging. Neutral: Size. Its big and clunky, but you have to understand with a palm/cell hybrid. Other phones have better specs; size vs. weight. Continual flashing green light @ top, while on stand-by. It gets annoying but one can deal with it.

Great Phone, Ok Palm, GREAT Combo!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: After 2 years of use, I still love my 6035 even compared to new products. It feels like a phone in my hand and it works like a Palm 5x. The palm integration of the phone and phone integration of the Palm are sweet. I can easily see upgrading to the 7135 when its available from Sprint.

Troubled... like most cutting-edge items

Pros:

Cons:

Review: This is a complaint about both the phone and Verizon, whom I used the phone with. I signed on with Verizon some months ago. My incentive was that they were offering a $150 rebate on this phone with a 1-year service plan. (Awesome!) Essentially, I had to take my phone in for servicing after a few months, because the headset jack stopped working. Verizon replaced my phone... with another phone that had been in their busted-phone recycling program. (An increasingly common business-practice: shuffle the bad models among the disenchanted and disgruntled customers) And the second phone died, completely, after another week or two. Now, I've been without a phone for THREE MONTHS, and have been attempting to negotiate with Verizon for replacement of the phone for all this time... I'm giving up on them, and am considering taking them to court before moving on to another service. Oh, and the rebate? I never saw that at all. Surprised? I may consider the newer Kyocera 7135, which is getting good reviews, as an alternative... if I can make Verizon make good.

Best phone I've owned so far!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I was looking at buying a new palm device when I read about the Kyo. After using it for about 2 years now, I have to say it was one of the best investments I've ever made. It has made life easier for me in many ways. One complaint I have is with Sprint's customer service and support. When I first bought the phone through an internet store, there was supposed to be a $100 rebate. I called Sprint to set up the phone, and for some reason, (no explanation given), they said they couldn't set up my service over the phone and I would have to go into a local store. They also wouldn't credit my rebate. The local Sprint store said they wouldn't give me the rebate, but would credit me $100 on my first two bills. They did NOT give me any credits. After several calls to Sprint, and letters to the rebate company, (Young America), I was unsuccessful in getting the rebate. All this has nothing to do with how much I like the phone, just that I have had nightmare service from all the cellular providers in my area except for Cingular. Unfortunately they don't carry the 6035. The good stuff: phone has great battery life! I have it in standby mode for several days and it's still going. I love the voice dialing feature. Yes it's a big phone, but that makes it less likely that you're going to lose it someplace. Then all the palm features. I've had to reset a few times, mainly when I've added on programs. But the basic Palm set of programs work fine. I probably would be upgrading to the Kyocera 7135, but there are no carriers in my region. Enjoy!

Convergence exists!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: While it is obviously a compromise (B/W palm w. a small screen AND a rather large, clunky cellphone), my Kyocera 6035 IS THE BEST ELECTRONIC DEVICE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. Like the others who have posted, I paid ~$100 thru a generous Verizon rebate program, the battery lasts forever, I DID have the same flip-phone software problems until Verizon updated the software (via a cell phone call!?). I don't use the Web, but I really like SMS messaging to/from BOTH email and cellphone addresses using my incorporated (and backed up!) Palm-based address book.

User Rating: 8/10

Definitely the best value for the money.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I am absolutely love this phone! I develop software for PalmOS and enjoy being able to carry with me a demo of my work or other tools and utilities that I need. Additionally, I can load PDF documents on the Palm for reading when time permits. Perfect for long flights or trips. There are so many uses.

It's grown on me like an oversized puppy.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I bought this phone almost 1 year ago with the 100 USD rebates from Sprint. So I paid a total of $50 for the phone and have really grown to love it. After some time of owning it I wished that it was smaller because the bulk is a killer. I can't mack in a club with this desktop PC sized thing on my hip. One woman even inquired if it came with duckhunt and a gun attachment jokingly referring to it as my mini nintendo 64. Ironically I do have the Bang GS game (which is basically the same game). Anyway, I have grown very accustomed to my 6035 in the past year and would only trade it in if I found a similar value. I REALLy wanted the 7135 but don't expect to see that in the near future offered by Sprint. Every other device out there is too pricey still. The only alternative in my opinion is the Treo 300 which is 898% more expensive. No thanks.

Good phone/PDA but getting old

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I got this phone about a year ago. After rebate the phone cost me 50 dollars or thereabouts. It was the best 50 dollars (and 2 year phone contract committment) I have ever made. I have used this phone to find where places I was going to are located after being on the road. Where else can you get to a resturants website, call them to make reservations, then get detailed driving directions all on one device. Battery life both when talking and using the PDA functions are awesome. I charge the phone about one a week. Phone conversation quality could be better, but I find that on most cell phones. Being a fully functional Palm device means there is always loads of applications to perform whatever function or feature you just have to have. At least that has been my experience from Datebook5, to various hacks, homelink applet, blazer browser, and others too numerous to mention. My only two real complaints are the size and weight, and lack of color display. I have started to look at the 7135, but have yet to find a place where I can kick the tires. So overall for the price, you can't beat the functions and features offered by this phone if you can stand the added size and weight from a regular 'dumb' cellphone.

Good phone/PDA combination

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I purchased this phone for $500 in Dec. 2001. The price plummeted a few months after that making it the best value smart phone today. So far it has been easy to use and beats carrying a separate phone and pda. I've had to reboot the phone a few times but haven't lost any data. The screen is tough to view at times, especially in dim lighting and nearly impossible in direct sunlight. The phone keypad is also a bit slow in processing the numbers. I have Verizon service which I have no complaints. Excellent battery life. Decent speakerphone. I'll probably keep this phone until Kyocera or some other company on Verizon's network comes out with a smaller version smart phone with color screen and bluetooth. I'll hold off on getting the 7135 (no need for an MP3 player and it lacks bluetooth). I'd like the idea of a wireless headset. The headset wire always gets tangled around my parking brake!

You don't have to carry two things around.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I like the phone and palm combo. It can be hard to read and sometimes the phone service is spotty. Overall, it is pretty user frendly.

For free, this was a good phone

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I, like another reader, managed to get enough rebates a year ago to get this phone for free, which is the only reason I like it. I have had problems with the flip cover not knowing whether it was closed, and with the thing constantly having to be reset. My service was through Sprint and no one there ever could help with getting this phone set up. Finally, at the end of the day it is just too big. On the other hand it does work and takes the place of two devices. I am retiring it as soon as my 1 year contract with Sprint runs out.

Great phone, when it first came out

Pros:

Cons:

Review: This WAS a top of the line combo phone, when I bought it almost two years ago. It has served me well over that time. It's feature set and size are quite outdated now. I'm not sure what CNET is doing reviewing it now that it is well past its prime. The lastest version, the 7135, was suppose to be out near the end of last summer. Has that release been such a failure that Kyocera is pushing this phone again?

User Rating: 7/10

It's my best PDA/cel. phone ever.

Pros:

Cons:

Review: It is best way to keep your PDA always with you because it is also your cel. phone. It just great to speak at the phone and to search/write information in the device.

Do not buy it, you will regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

Cons:

Review: The support you receive from Kyocera is terrible. If you are a Mac User , don't touch it. The instructions booklet you receive with your phone , might as well be used for the bottom of a bird cage. Syncing problems , docs to go problems. I have spent $$$$ for support.

don't do it!!!!

Cons:

Review: i have had a 6035 for 11 mths and i have been out of the country for 7 of those. i am on my fourth phone and the support i have recieved from the provider has been terrible!!!! they refuse to switch models and keep giving me phones that continually erase all the information that i have entered! every 6035 i have had has had the same problem...i do not recommend this phone to anyone!! the software support that i have recieved will not let me convert files to install and all the stores can do is keep giving me the same software!DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!!

Good Idea, Bad Execution

Pros:

Cons:

Review: Although the Palm works OK, I've never had a phone that struggled so hard to get a signal. I've dropped more calls than I can count. Very bulky. always gets in the way.

Great phone if it would work

Pros:

Cons:

Review: Like Chris P, I too am having problems with the flip cover. Often I cannot use the bottons on the cover because, as he says, the device still thinks the cover is open. I am on my second phone. Verison will not stand behind this product, either. I would recommend you pass, even though the features make it very tempting.

ETBTHKS

Pros:

Cons:

Review: This large, hefty phone holds much more than phone numbers. It's palm feature and design surpasses most other phones and is more user-friendly. There have been some problems like locking up and trouble with software, but otherwise is a well-rounded (everything but the kitchen sink) phone.

User Rating: 9/10

Awesome phone-palm hybrid

Pros:

Cons:

Review: I have owned this phone for more than 1.5 year now, and it has been awesome all the time. Nowadays it is very cheap (less than $150), which makes it a GREAT value. As for the previous poster, my phone has NEVER locked up by regular use (once or twice when installing bad software only). My phone has GREAT reception (and reception mostly depends on carrier and where you live, seldom has the phone anything to do with it). I have tons of great FREE Palm OS compatible software installed, and as long as you do not mind the size, this is a great phone for anyone who wants PDA/Palm functionality. However, I cannot wait until Kyocera comes out with their new 7135, which will be beyond anything else out there.

User Rating: 2/10

poor excuse for cellphone

Pros:

Cons:

Review: this is my second phone like this-its keeps locking up when you try and wake phone up.have to remove battery cover-reset phone-recepyion is poor-no explanation from company why this keeps happening.if this phone was free it would be too much-going back to motorola brand phones
