"If you dont have 3G dont bother"4.0 starson by sdstyle
Pros: Great for 3G service. Plays mp3/aac+, sdmini slot, loud ringtones
Cons: Clunky, poor headphone speaker, buttons too close
Summary: So I have beta tested this phone 1 month prior to its release. Since then, there have been firmware upgrades from LG which have remedied some of the navigational issues covered in the cnet review.
This is the fastest modem phone that I have used to date via bluetooth. Forget about Hotspots, just hook this phone up with your bluetooth enabled laptop and you are on your way to high speed wireless internet anywhere you get reception. I did a bandwidth speed test from cnet and got speeds between 200 and 400kbps....cant beat that with a cell phone.
At the moment many internet radio sites are switching over to 3gpp format (SomaFM)which will enable the same great shoutcast content you are able to get from your computer or laptop.
Among other things, it will check email, has the most updated J2ME software and has a great screen.
LG traditionally has been the right hand man for Verizon and the red headed step child in GSM. However I feel that this phone in terms of build quality and UI is heading in the right direction with Cingular. Cingular's content is still lackluster, but with the growth of j2ME apps on the rise like Google maps and Opera mini, you cant go wrong.
So,the bottom line is that this phone is designed for the HSPDA/3G network from Cingular (which is still in infancy stage.) If you were dumb enough to buy it and not be in a non-3g designated area, you wasted your time.
