"Awesome phone except for some issues"

Cons: escalating ringer, need to repeatedly unlock phone
Summary: This is a beautiful well constructed phone and is far better than any I've seen or owned from Alltel. I would rate it a 9 or 10 except for the issue others have mentioned with the escalating ringer. I continually miss calls and texts and there is no way to disable this feature. Unless you have the phone in your pocket at all times (and don't listen to loud music or spend time in noisy places) it's a major problem. I called LG and was told there was NO chance they would offer any software updates or make changes in the phone in the future to address this problem.
Another annoyance is that you have to unlock the phone whenever you are inactive for 14 seconds, which gets old fast. There should be a way to disable this feature also, or at least to lengthen the time before it relocks.
As much as I do love the phone I will be returning mine and probably leave Alltel when my contract ends for a company with a better phone selection.

The ringer is awful. I cannot believe they will not do a software update. I feel ripped off.

Good Afternoon!<br><br>I see that many of you have sent me a PM concerning a private issue, I apologize but we have been very busy and I have not been able to see to your questions, I will try to do that this week.<br><br>GREAT NEWS! Thanks to your persistant calling and harrassing of Alltel agents, a software patch will be released from Alltel that will allow you to turn off the ringer issue, please expect that in 2-3 weeks.<br><br>For those of you that have already returned your LG Glimmer, you can go back and get it or simply wait for the fix, this update will be for the ringer issue ONLY, expect a future optional update for celltop, and the addition of the IM program through Alltel services.<br><br>If you would like to confirm this for yourself, please call Alltel at 1-866-415-0778 press options, 3,3,4,1,2 without listening to prompts, ask for a supervisor, then ask them to confirm this internal notification, it was released two days ago as of today 5/7/2008<br><br>As always, thank you for choosing Alltel and I am very happy that we are going to able to fix this for everyone!
