Bottom line
The LG Optimus Elite packs a couple of interesting extras, but at its core it's no more than an average Android phone with a less than elite design.
Though you won't get blazing data or processing speeds on the Kyocera Event, as an affordable smartphone it's an excellent choice.
The competitively priced Kyocera Rise is fitting for texting enthusiasts looking for a starter smartphone with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The LG Optimus V is a great entry-level Android smartphone if you want to go the prepaid route.
Demanding Android fans won't like the HTC One V's slow performance but its premium design and low, no-contract price makes it a steal on Virgin Mobile.
