  • "A HUGE step up from a Droid Pro!"
    4.5 stars
    on by MrSkary

Pros: Processor speed, 4G LTE connectivity, gorgeous HD screen, lightweight, clean looks.

Cons: Battery is not incredible (better than what I'm used to though), a lot of apps/movies/video aren't ready for the big 16X9 HD screen.

Summary: Got two for one special (one for me, one for the Mrs.) at Verizon ($199) and then got $100 off of THAT for this being my first 4G phone. So, two of these phones for $99 are you kidding? What a deal. The experience is a 1000% improvement over my Droid Pro (which has been my Buddy for a couple of years now...loved that phone, but let's face it, it's ancient technology).

Picked up this phone yesterday so admittedly I'm still learning and I'm still in a honeymoon phase. That being said, I find a lot of the nit-pickyness of many of the online reviews from several different sites to be misguided and...well...a little nit-picky.

I'm a techy guy, but I draw the line at rooting the phone. I hit the internet a lot, watch videos, movies, use this via bluetooth to connect to my Ford Explorer's Sync system to listen to my Google Cloud Music, GPS/Maps, etc. I use my phone a LOT and this phone RULES. The speed of both the 4G and the processor are outrageous. Considering most people upgrade after the 2 year contract, many of the reviews don't take that into consideration and only compare phones to their contemporaries. That makes sense, but it would be good for them to comment on the improvements over previous technology because this phone kicks all forms of a$$ if you're coming out of a 2 year old phone/contract.

The Camera works LIGHTING fast...no delay when you hit the button (isn't that frustrating?). The quality seems very good, but I haven't tried the HD video. I typically use my camera for video, but I may try it more with my phone now that I have the HD capability.

I did download Easy Battery Saver which i'm trying to find the right combination. The recommended settings with that app disable the 4G connection so I'm trying to get that figured out but that supposedly will help with the battery usage. We'll see how it goes today as I was able to charge it completely overnight. It did take a lot longer to charge up than my Droid Pro did for some reason....

If you're like me and use your phone to keep connected to the rest of the world but don't want to take it apart to fully enjoy it, then you will LOVE this phone. At a price of $199 for TWO, find a friend or loved one and GO GET THIS PHONE!!!
