Pros good sound and screen/icon system
Cons power on/off problems, battery issues, weak service, odd charger
Summary This phone had a problem staying on while talking on it. It would periodically restart itself - as in shut off and then turn back during a phone call. Sometimes it would even turn off and then not turn back on and even when the power button was pressed it wouldn't turn back on. I had to take out the battery and put it back in to get it to even respond to the power button. Often it would turn off and then almost turn back on - but instead of fully turnign on it would simply flash a purple light on the screen until I finally had to pop out the battery. Pretty terrible. I had to replace this phone after 3 months. And then I had the replacement phone (same model)for a few weeks and this started to happen. The first one I had the battery kept falling out after very little wear. I had never dropped it or done anything and the battery was constantly falling out while in use. I finally had to tape the entire thing together so it coudl function. I've owned many cell phones and this is probably the worst that I've ever owned. It had weak service as well and poor battery life. But if it's free go for it. Also - comes with an awful desktop charger - totally bulky and rare so good luck borrowing a charger at anyone else's house if needed.
Pros Still using this phone since 2003
Cons No still pics or video abilities
Summary If you can still get this phone I would highly recommend it only if your looking for a solid phone with no camera/video function.
Sound quality and battery life on this thing is great. I did get the extended battery and I can still go a whole week w/o recharging the unit with nominal chatting.
"Manner mode problem."on by BillDL
Pros Good call reception and easy to use.
Cons External manner mode button is bad design.
Summary I have had this phone for almost two years and I miss important calls all the time because this phone goes into manner mode when it is in my pocket. This is because the manner mode button is on the outside of the phone and gets accidently pressed while in my pants pocket. As soon as I can I am getting a new phone due to this design flaw. While this is the only fault that I can find with the phone, it is a major fault that I cannot live with.
Pros Easy to use. Sturdy. Tough.
Cons I guess this particular "make & model" is no longer made.
Summary I love everything about this phone. It fits my lifestyle perfectly. I'm a single mom with four kids and it keeps me connected at home and when I'm on the go. The only time I can't get a signal is in one particular Wal-Mart. But I don't go their very often anyway, so it's not an issue. Audio is always clear and never cuts out. I can easily text message my fiance. It saves on minutes and I can talk to him anytime, anywhere. The fact that the LCD light stays on when it's charging is no big deal. It gives off a little glow. So what? You plug it in when you go to bed and you never even know it's there. It's not super light but not too heavy. I like a little weight to a phone. I've dropped mine several times and it just takes it. It would take a lot to convince me to change phones. I just don't know what I'm going to do when I DO need to replace it.
Pros Loud volume
Cons battery life, loud volume
Summary I got this phone second-hand from a friend. I lost my V265(eh) and Verizon wouldn't do anything for me.
It's got a bright color screen with adjustable backlight, and quite an array of ringtones.
My biggest gripe is that it takes a long time to dial. I've waited up to a minute for it to dial once I've hit send. Sometimes the calls go right throug, sometimes it says "Calling..." for up to a minute, and might never dial.
Those little rubber things to keep the screen from hitting the keys? Yeah it had one when I got it, and that lasted a week.
The battery life was dysmal. A couple days with no calls, and it needed a recharging. It forced me to pick up a huge extended battery.
It's very durable. I've dropped it numerous times, and it's still working without any reduction in effectiveness.
The earpiece volume is crazy. I have to keep it on the lowest setting, and that's about as loud as my V265's highest. Any louder, and it kills my ears. It makes up for the lack of speakerphone!
I like manner mode, since I can reach into my pocket, hold the button down, and feel it vibrating to let me know it's not going to ring. I don't even have to take it out.
