Pros Nice big screen, fast processor, 4G LTE is amazing! The phone has some neat features.
Cons Battery sucks!!! I have to put it on a charger at least once in the middle of the day. Constantly having to kill processes that keep restarting. Apps open on their own randomly. Forget about multitasking on this phone. It's very finicky and unstable.
Summary The cons make this phone not worth it. More Cons: The speaker volume for talking on the phone is terribly weak, so if you're somewhere that has a hands free cell law you will need a headset. The music volume for the speaker is mediocre. You open an app and it causes 3 other processes to run, which will continue to run until you MANUALLY kill them. RAM usage seems to stay between 450MB and 560MB out of 700MB available. Had my phone in sleep mode for 45 minutes and the battery went down 15%... I have had an iPhone 4 since they came out and an iPhone 3GS before that. I was talked into buying this phone and am taking it back as soon as possible. Maybe I will try the HTC One X. I hear that's the top smart phone on the market at the moment. Bottom line is, I do not recommend this phone.
Pros Thin, light, good reception (AT&T), great camera, easy to use after familiarization.
Cons "Battery life" is an oxymoron. No better battery available, that I've found. AT&T Smart WiFi ap is annoying at best to use.
Summary I've had the Atrix HD for over a year now. The (lack of) battery life is infuriating. A full charge in the morning will last about 6 hours in my pocket. Turn off all running apps (mainly AT&T Smart WiFi) and I get about 10 hours. I've replaced the digitizer screen twice myself; it's not difficult, using a good DIY video from Youtube. The battery could be changed out, if there was a good upgrade; I don't know if there is. I didn't pursue searching after initial results didn't inspire me. The battery life has been crappy since I bought the phone; it's not dying battery syndrome.
If no-battery-life isn't enough, the AT&T Smart WiFi ap makes me want to throw the phone in the trash sometimes. It was always in sleep mode and was difficult at best to wake up. When I replaced the digitizer last time, I did a factory restore and now it's always searching for hotspots and kills my battery even more than before. I asked service rep in AT&T store for advice on using it, and was not surprised when they didn't know another answer except "..you can (probably) find it online in a manual..).
The "Ice Cream" OS is easily upgraded to "Jelly Bean", whatever that's geek-speak for....
The camera, to me, takes beautiful pictures. No complaint about video either. The flash is a little overpowering sometimes. Using the camera kills the battery quickly, just like texting or anything else.
The reception is very good. I talk inside elevators in hotels, inside all metal buildings, lots of places no one else even has signal. BUT, what good is it if I have the best reception and almost no battery life?
If you want a good laugh, use the "talk to text". You'll be amazed at what this phone, or maybe I should say the Google server, thinks you say.
As for carriers, I plan to stay with AT&T for now. That "Can you hear me now?" crew...they didn't come to this area. I'm currently on the hunt for another phone.
Pros Great pictures, Dual Camera, Great Screen without having to be larger, Pretty Fast!
Cons Battery Sucks! Come on Motorola! We need a 4500mah battery to add to this! Put on charge within 2-4 hrs or becomes dysfunctional with battery below 30%! Have(2)4500mah battery packs it also stays plunged into to keep in going throughout the day!
Summary Don't bother getting it! Get the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD or the Samsung Galaxy S4!
Pros Screen is nice (but not in daylight). 4G is fast. Camera does okay in daylight, relatively close up.
Cons Battery life. Camera. Overheats. LOOSES PICTURES. Memory. Unstable. SD card issues.
Summary So Sorry i chose this phone. (So is my wife - just for listening to me complain about it again.) Battery drains unexpectedly. Camera very poor despite high file size. Camera is abysmal in medium (cloudy day) to low light. Camera zoom for scenery is a waste of time. Unstable - apps restart continually. Overheats if navigation, charger, GPS, Moble Data, and the requested wi-fi stay on for a 90 minute trip. (Dare to add Bluetooth?) Keeps loosing pictures on SD card even though that's about all you can put on the SD card natively. (Tried three different SD cards.) Internal memory sufficient for only a few small apps, and apps cannot be put on the SD card. Really??!! That's a big part of why I picked this MOTOROLA ATRIX HD and they restrict SD card until almost useless. I think it kills SD cards. It definitely has frequent trouble recognizing the SD card bought for this phone. (Shut down, re-insert SD card, restart. Dang - not this time? Repeat.)
Pros Smart actions work well, sturdy and well made, picks up service very fast.
Cons Camera definitely is not the best, non removable battery.
Summary Overall very pleased. Does everything I need it to do. Smart actions work automatically to make my life easier. It's basically the droid razr for at&t, and now after all of it's updates, the software flaws no longer exist or are very minor. I definitely recommend it.
