"Great phone, very poor pc to phone communication" on by coltsfan46260

Pros: Touch screen, Google navigation, both touch screen and real keyboard, Verizon network, able to download apps right from phone

Cons: Cannot synch data from Outlook (no email, contacts, etc). I have hundreds of phone numbers stored in Outlook, no good way to get them on the phone. Stupid HUGE smiley face button on keyboard that I can't remove.

Summary: I am an iPhone user from day 1. Moved to area that AT&T network is horrible. Switched to Verizon and got this phone. In some ways it's better than the iPhone. In other ways, it's very poor. One example is adding Yahoo email accounts to the phone cannot be done automatically (unlike the iPhone). Cannot customize on screen keyboard. NO WAY TO SYNCH PHONE WITH PC. Google wants you to upload all of your data to their cloud server and then download it to phone. Boy, I thought iTunes was a bad idea. It's brilliant in comparison to this. Overall, phone is fast and easy to use once you get the hang of it. But forget it if you think you are going to plug in USB cable to your PC and move your data over. Can't happen. I guess there's 3rd party software for $40 that will upload your personal data from Outlook to Google. I don't want my data on any online cloud server....

On your outlook contacts just highlight your contacts, go to file, import-export, export to a file, comma seperated values (windows), when window opens click next, click on browse and give the file a name u can find (desktop is best) Once it's saved go to your online google account and do an import for your contacts and refer to the Outlook file that u saved on your desktop. All your files will be uploaded. on the menu bar of Google you will see a small green bottole-like icon that will sync it all. U should see your contacts show up on your phone in about 5-10 minutes. Hope this helps, jr
