"Great applications - missing modern hardware"
Pros: Applications, size, ease of use and very clear calls
Cons: Touch screen failed for three days then resumed normal operation. No wi-fi or EDGE.
Summary: This phone is very attractive to students and young professionals more than anyone else. However, given Moore's Law this phone just does not have the capacity to meet some of today's more intensive tasks in the sense that it is not equipped with edge or wi-fi. One of the most attractive pros has to be the capacity to sync w/ Microsoft Outlook and to view all Office documents on your phone. Text messaging is a breeze with the touch screen (similar to a Palm Pilot), but not catered for the user that plans on interfacing with the phone directly. More elaborate tasks such as using the calendar feature would need to be downloaded through Outlook. The phone is very loud and clear, but the software can be slow as well as incoming calls. It may take a couple seconds for the phone to actually initiate a clear line of communication. Another drawback is the choppy video and camera. Oh... and the touch screen started going out recently so I bought a Nokia E61i; then it suddenly worked again once I removed the silicone cover since it makes the ear piece ajar. Oh well, I got the Nokia for cheap so I'm not two upset, but I have had the A1200 for close to year and a half with no issues (at the exception of the screen). I would strongly recommend you get this phone if you don't mind the lack of wi-fi, EDGE or elaborate smartphone use. You can store up to 1 gig of information (pictures, music, videos etc...) with the addition of a memory card - and looks amazing.
