Pros: perfect size, just big enough
love the curved ergonomic hold
double wrist flick to open camera
Motorola assist is awesome
Summary: My favorite part of this phone is definitely the wrist flick to open he camera. I know it sounds weird to have that "gimmick" type feature be my favorite thing but honestly after using it for the last two months I don't know how I went without it. I use it constantly! That said the picture quality varies more than I would like. Even with the update, sometimes the pictures are STUNNING and other times so pixely I feel like I am in 2005. This is the phones greatest flaw, but I end up getting mostly good pictures.
I love the size! Bigger than the iPhone for better media consumption but not huge so that I can't use it one handed. I mostly use my phone with one hand and I think this size is the perfect sweet spot. Continuing on the build, I love the curved ergonomic back and the little "button" spot under the camera lense. I am still really angry at Motorola for keeping moto maker from Verizon for so long though. What the heck!?
I love the relatively minimal bloat on the phone, it makes it feel clean. Motorola Assist (one of the few pre-installed apps) is actually really great. I love connecting moto X to my computer, or being able to recieve a call when I am sleeping ONLY if they call twice. Reading texts in the car is the most used feature, I just wish it would let me reply specifically instead of a canned "I'm driving I will call you later".
The screen is hard to see in direct sunlight. I live in Las Vegas so this is a bigger issue for me than I thought it would be. I LOVE LOVE active display and I know they need an amoled display for that but it still gets frustrating. I haven't decided if I would trade active display for better sunlight visibility yet, I wish I could have both :/
Android apps are glitchy. I have had iPhone since they launched and never experienced this kind of weirdness. I asked my boyfriend who has a Galaxy Note II about it and he said he gets the same glitches sometimes and it is just the price you pay for a system as malleable as android. For example on instagram my profile pic never shows up. It is there, and when I go to my profile page it shows up and then it will work but if I just open straight to the timeline it will just not load. Like I said I don'y have huge android experience but I have a lot of iPhone experience and between me and my boyfriends problems this seems like an android app issue.
Even with all of this, I still prefer the Moto X to the iPhone 5 or any other iPhone. I am sick to death of apples incremental upgrades. They would really have to WOW me to bring me back because right now I am LOVING the Moto x. Just an overall really enjoyable experience. Not perfect, but doesn't need to be because the innovation it offers is worth the small (and infrequent) glitches.
