"Solid as a Stone Axe" on by z3billy

Pros: Can't kill it, free upgrade to 6.1 (do this!) Really good bluetooth, Quiet background, Business phone quality, Works fine on BES server if you have the right software, comes with the upgrade. If the Military spec'd PDA phones this would be it.

Cons: Reception...Not quite as good out in the boonies to hold a signal in fringe areas...struggles in non-3G service areas to hop towers at times.

Summary: Indestructible, Cannot kill it. I dropped mine in the toilet (CLEAN WATER! HA!) and I just stared at it in disbelief while I hear it filling up with water...gurgling. I reached in and pulled it out slid the back off and pulled the battery ASAP. I sat it out in the sunlight for that day to dry and popped the battery back in and presto! Runs fine no effect on the unit. Try that with your BlackJack or Tilt or any HTC phone...I have owned em all too TWICE over and this Q9 is fun to use...Bought mine in Jan 2008 so I have had it awhile. For me to use one over 6 months is unheard of but still using it.

Not sure what folks expect in a PDA Phone but this works just fine...Buy it

Oh Yeah...something I now take for granted...Voice Dial...No tags...Just call the name and bingo. Very Very Accurate and the kicker is it does this using my selection of bluetooth headsets or even my bluetooth speakerphone. If it's not working for you you head piece is probably a POS and you need to get a good one Like a Jawbone or Plantronics 520 or 925. Blueant is decent too. My speakerphone is a Supertooth Light.

"Nice phone, easy to use, I am really happy with it" on by peterpeter211

Pros: Windows 6 is very nice. Solid operation and doesnt crash or require reboots.

Cons: Display window scratches easily. Need to use screen protector. A bit slow in operation. I wish it had a standard 2.5 mm earphone jack so I can used either a wired earphone or a headset

Summary: Very solid phone. I would buy another one in a couple of years if it were still available.

"Best Smart phone to date" on by msantiago1

Pros: Nice screen, extra battery, excellent cell phone, nice wide keyboard. Plus I can use Blackberry Connect.

Cons: A little big, customization could be better.

Summary: I have used all the smart phones and this by far is the best if you need it for business. The ability to use BIS or BES makes this phone a no brainer.

"Latest is the greatest: Fully updated with WM 6.1" on by Crunchy_Frog

Pros: Updated WM 6.1 OS, fast performance, great call quality, fast 3G speeds, spacious keyboard, slim design, outstanding battery life (and options), voice command

Cons: Screen is small for some applications, lack of customization of the new home screen on 6.1, tough to dial letters on a phone call with number keys, frequent use of task manager to close programs, no WiFi, web browsing is clumsy

Summary: I have been a long time user of Windows powered phone devices and I can say that the Q9h is one of my favorites to date.

It's too bad this device is being phased out soon, my only hope is that it will be followed up with another winner like the Q9h.

Quite a few people ay my work are BlackBerry addicts and swear by them as the best devices for messaging. I beg to differ and would put the Q9h up against them any day. The closest competitor would be the BlackBerry curve or maybe even the 8800 in comparable size and performance.

When the Q9h did arrive it did have problems with performance and battery life. I can say that those issues have been resolved with the latest release. The Q9h comes with 2 batteries: one standard slim battery and a larger capacity battery with a back cover as well. I opted for the slim battery because I preferred the form factor and wanted to test the life of the standard slim battery.

My day consists of frequent business calls and because I live in California with its hands-free law, Bluetooth is always running to my hands-free device. My email uses PUSH technology so it is constantly monitoring for new messages. To my surprise, the standard battery has held up all day, even with all of my activity.

The performance has been very consistent even with a large number of apps being open at the same time. The addition of Windows Mobile 6.1 that was recently released from Motorola, has made a good phone into a great one. The new Today screen is so much easier to use and find what you need fast. My only gripe is that you can't customize what is on it or rearrange the programs on it for persoanl tastes.
The 6.1 update added great new features like voice command, the latest IE browser and much more. This update addressed a number of performance bugs as well.

Overall, the Q9h is a great device for personal or professional use. The PUSH email works great and the Smartphone platform is easy to use and has great call quality and numerous features built in. I highly recommend the Motorola Q9h for AT&T.
