Pros Battery Life, Screen Resolution, Speaker quality, Speaker phone, Radio, Calendar, reception (now w/Cingular), durable, & design.
Cons On/off function is a little tricky, Small front plate keys, Radio option burns the battery life, Radio only w/headset, & No addional face plate options (the back is extremely dirty)
Pros none since the AT&T merger with Cingular
Cons Constantly drops calls, poor audio quality, no help from Cingular.
Summary I got this phone from AT&T Wireless in August 2004. At the time, it worked wonderfully - very few dropped calls, excellent coverage, decent features. One gripe - the FM radio required use of the earbud - but you could use the speakerphone to listen, but couldn't unplug the earbud - wierd...
Then AT&T "merged" with Cingular, and this phone's performance went into the toilet. Every call is dropped a MINIMUM of once (if I'm lucky - usually two or three times) despite good signal strength. I have a hard time getting through to my voice mail, and now it takes 2 or 3 tries to get through to my phone (you get the Cingular message that I'm unavailable or that the number is not in service). When you get through, I sound like I'm living in digital land - totally synthesized and electronic sounding. I also get constant 'System unavailable' and 'Error connecting to System' messages when dialing out.
My wife and I have the same phones, and hers acts the same way, so it's not the phones - it's Cingular.
Cingular says that the AT&T Wireless phones are not supported by their system, and that we should sign new 2 year contracts and pay for new phones - ARE THEY KIDDING?? The only good thing is that the merger made our original agreement with AT&T Wireless null and void.
I feel bad for all you out there who had AT&T Wireless - I feel your pain. I also feel bad for those out there with Sprint and Nextel - this same thing is probably going to happen to one or both of you once they merge hardware platforms. I just wish that Cingular's attitude wasn't so cavaliere about my problems with a phone that's less than a year old. I'm switching carriers as a result.
Pros decent battery life, good talk time, download everything you want/need, infrared...
Cons Have to click 3x as many buttons to get to anything useful.
Pros Design, Hidden antenna
