"Worthy E Series line extension." on by stevenj2
Pros: A good tool, balanced for personal and buiness use with good comms optiions, entertainment and reference functions, in a sporty yet serious, well -perfoming package. And at least in the US, for those who don't go with tthe pack.
Cons: Sybian interface needs a lot of tweaking, and I wish there were more apps etc but I can work with this. Limitations of micro SD and propietary NOKIA micro US. Low? price so they leave out case, data cable, wrist strp and memory card.
Summary: This works..it is what I wish the expensive E61 unlocked I bought 3 yrs ago was. Some reviewers points of are no concern to me. Keyboard chardacters are easier to see than on ol E61 and it feels OK. This phone is as small and slim as I would want. I alway mis-pressed side volume and voice recorder controls in my grip while speaking anyway, E63 performance so far in NYC is fine. It would be a much better value with some accesories or maybe a better camera, or someting enhanced as a deal sweetener to attract more people, maybe not to easily in U.S. -[that IS NOKI's problem] . This does not have GPS; I do not drive and so I do not know how well an E71/E71x with GPS for walking around a city woud be. But I wanted an update over the E61 and the E63 beat a release of ATT E71x and I am not willing to pay for the PDA data plan to have it, so I am happy to have this unlocked E63, with no contact, and no ATT data plan as is!
April 4-> The selection key / upper right hand ,cracked in half [in the skinny part) tonight. I registered with Nokia, but will try for a retrun exchange with my retailer. Beware, thesel thin pieces of plastic now seem all likely to fail.

"Definitely a worthy smartphone." on by Asri Sulaiman
Pros: With 8GBcard and std headphone plug, it's better than an ipod - it have built-in speakers.
Who cares about 2MP camera and no gps, my dedicated devices will always be miles better than any phone. Best of all, it is free with my contract renewalCons: Lack of volume buttons is a small drawback. Software can be further
improved - I hope upgrades will improve things. Reception is much like
my old phone. I sorta hope it'll solve my problem with a coverage hole
centered on my house. Not such luck.Summary: A worthy smartphone. Period!.
I have not used a smarphone before and have got this sleek dark blue E63 for several weeks.
No problem with it's size. It is thinner than my old phone, looks and feel good in my hands.
Any smaller, the keys will be nigh unusable.
While I am impressed by its extra abilities over normal phones, I am underwhelmed
by quickoffice, acrobat reader and the ability to surf the web through the wireless etc.
it's only of novelty value, or for desperate situation. This is likely true for any smartphone
not just E63.
The alarm function is inferior to my old Nokia 6288. This cute smartphone is no competition
to my laptop and I have no intention to use it for email any time soon. The qwerty keys are
fantastic though. I have to unlearn the old habit of multiple key pressings developed with
traditional phones, I see how crippled that feels now. Messaging is now a breeze and using
the phone for writing notes is a viable endeavour. I would hate to go back to any non-qwerty
phone.
Overall, the E63 does not feel cheap - it is solid product with refined feel to it and the
size is just right. I do hope the software and applications will keep on improving. The number
of extra applications available now is not worth mentioning compared to the iPhone.
As far as need for digital camera and GPS goes, I prefer to use the purpose built devices
which I believe will always be significantly superior. Therefore with its standard size
headphone jack E63 is actually a better choice for me than the E71. I have not got into
using HSDPA yet - probably can live without it. Four stars out of five!. -
"3.5mm standard a/v connector not standard at all..." on by psny727
Pros: keyboard was well designed to use only the base of your thumb...
Cons: 3.5mm standard a/v connector as stated in the specification...it's not standard at all, it will only work with nokia compatible headsets.
Summary: rate as stated for reason of wrong information on the specification regarding the 3.5MM STANDARD A/V CONNECTOR, it won't work on the regular headsets, only compatible nokia headsets, if for some reason it'll work on the standard headsets, it won't last...it'll display headset not compatible, it doesn't make sense putting a 3.5mm standard jack and you can't use a standard headset plug!!!!

"great phone for a great price" on by jonoeatyoualive
Pros: device feels good to use and hold. fast device. geared towards business people, but easily customizable for entertainment. awesome messaging phone. buttons are perfect size and no slilp. no pre loaded bloat ware! wifi is great. 3.5mm headphone jack.
Cons: have experienced a few minor glitches, did freeze up on me once. package does not include data cable! phone arrived with outdated firmware. pre loaded browser is good but not great. head phone jack has annoying plug, easily lost.
Summary: been using the phone for a week and its an exceptional device. fast response to commands and easily navigatable and customizable menus/homescreen. buttons are kind close together, but perfect size and have a nice feel. easy to type long messages/emails. wifi works great and detects networks easily. have experienced a few glitches and the phone froze up once, but i suspect outdated firmware is the problem. phone did arrive with outdated firmware, and since it does not inclure data cable, ill have to wait to update it. cant find data cable in stores and nokia charges a fortune for it! will be buying it from amazon for cheap. phone is feature rich with lots of programs to fit your needs, but iincludes no unnecessary bloat ware. easily customizable to fit your lifestyle. nokia browser is okay, but not great. the 3.5 mm jack is a real plus so i dont have to use an adapter for headphones, but theres an annoying plug that is not attached to the phone which i know will be lost very soon. i use the phone primarily for texting/email and web browsing, and its perfect for it. overall this is a great phone for someone who loves messaging and maybe has a bit of work to do as well. before this phone i had a windows mobile device and theres just too much junk on those phones. i will be sticking with this phone for a long time!
if you need a new phone and are considering this one, give it a shot. its well worth the price and you wont be dissappointed. also i must reccomend the otter box impact serise case for this phone. i have it as well and it adds a bit of extra grip to the phone and makes it more durrable.
this phone is a great deal! -
"Great for everything except making calls" on by aek03002
Pros: small but effective keyboard, good built-in web browser, video-enabled, reasonable unlocked price
Cons: Call quality is terrible
Summary: An excellent data and messaging phone. There's tons of software available for it. This phone has a great keyboard, nice display, and a good built-in web browser that renders pages nicely. Using GooSync I was able to sync the built-in calendar with my Google account for free. I downloaded Nimbuzz so I could IM as well. Between the built-in web browser, GooSync, Gmail app, and Nimbuzz I was able to go for days without booting up my laptop. The camera is nothing special but it does the job. Video (both camcorder and playback) is fine. I got a standalone GPS device and combined that with Google Maps so I could have GPS capabilities as well. Since this phone is unlocked you can sign up for the cheaper $30/month unlimited data and messaging plan from AT&T instead of a more expensive PDA/Smartphone plan.
The major issue I had was that this phone is terrible at making calls! I had tons of dropped calls (though this could have been AT&T), and everyone said my voice sounded very muffled and distant no matter how I held the phone. I didn't have this problem with my old Nokia 6085 flip phone. I always had to repeat myself, and for often had to ask people to call me back on my landline. Were it not for the awful call quality I would have kept this phone and stayed with AT&T because the messaging and data capabilities are this phone are superb.
