"What in the ----?!" on by jouten907
Pros: Too many to list
Cons: Not enough to list
Summary: Why do they allow people to write reviews of the device when people either don't own one or the phone has not even been released yet? Come on!
I have this phone on pre-order and this is going to be pretty much my be-all, end-all, mother-of-all-cell phones for at least a couple years.
This will be a phone worth getting just for historical purposes alone. 1st Linux phone.
I will add/edit more once I ACTUALLY get my hands on this phone and have used it enough to give a PROPER review.
I wouldn't even mind if they deleted THIS review as long as they delete other reviews from other people who don't own or have this phone too.

I own the n900. It was on sale at dell.com a little while back, with a great rebate deal. This review is spot on the phone has a lot of potential, but it's currently very primitive and it's odd to use a stylus again. I thought styluses went out with the Palm Treos.
The interface is as nonintuitive as a Blackberry, but much less wordy than the Blackberry menu based interface.
I like it, but I hope the software gets better. I've had a iPhone since day one, literally and I finally just gave up on AT&T's and its uselessness in SF, but nothing can reach the iPhone wrt software, especially not this device. It's almost user unfriendly, but it's kinda fun to dig around the linux base.
The browser is great but part of the interface gets in the way of the bottoms of web pages. I haven't had the chance to install the new version of firefox, yet.
I'm surprised the review didn't mention the second camera you can use with Skype? Although I may have missed that part of the review. -
And before the Pre and Android phones, Motorola used an embedded Linux kernel in several phones. The difference between the N900 and the WebOS/Android (iPhone/BSD?) phones is that this is a supposedly full desktop distribution based on Debian. This is more mobile computer, less smartphone.

I agree. They should delete your review immediately. So, have you bought a Droid yet?
-
I agree. No one should be able to review a phone based purely on their impression from pictures and specs. They need to have the phone in their hands to be able to sufficiently review it. One problem with your post though. Its not the first Linux phone. Android is based on the Linux kernel, and there have been several Android devices released before this.

the palm pre runs linux so not the first phone that has linux
