"Awesome device but lacks in areas..." on by gkiester

Pros: Sleeck design, Perfect size, Easy to use

Cons: Battery, Out of date OS, Little pricey, Lack of decent accessories

Summary: Some might think that my rating of the phone doesn't quite match the "awesome" part in my title... let me explain.

Aesthetically, the phone looks and feels like a million bucks. I think it is by far the most stylish PDA phone on the market. It is the perfect size in my opinion. The phone does just about everything that I want it to do as well.

I will be honest though. The thing I hate most about the phone is the battery life. I don't use my phone for business, it is strictly my personal phone. If I don't start out the day with a full battery, it wont last the whole day. I was pretty bummed about this. So, I had to buy an extra wall charger and leave it at work to fix the problem if I forgot to charge the phone over night.

My other beef is the slow Palm OS. I hate nothing more than trying to type up a quick document or text message and the cursor stops because it cant keep up. That drives me crazy because I don't consider myself to be an extremely fast typer. Loading programs as well can sometimes seem to be a chore for the little guy too.

On to the keypad. I have read many reviews about the buttons being to small. Yes, I will agree they are small, the phone is small, what do you expect. However, this doesn't mean they are not functional. I have descent size hands and fingers and I have no problems using this keypad. It only took a day or two to get used to it. You don't have to grow your thumbnail out to use the keypad either. You just simply place you thumb over the button like you would on a bigger PDA. It does feel like you are hitting more than one button, but you really aren't. It works just fine for me.

I am a Sprint user and I was in the middle of a contract when I bought this phone. So the price tag from Sprint was good old retail. I think this price is a little high considering it has the same old Palm OS with not many new features at all. I would say it is an excellent buy for a person who is a new user to Sprint. At $59.99 it's a steal!

"Worst cell phone ever" on by Bink1162

Pros: You can throw it. Thats the only nice thing I can say about it.

    Cons: It constantly crashes.

Summary: I have to set up my email setting every time I want to send or receive an email only to have the phone crash on you, and the reboot takes for ever.

You can't surf the net on it because the phone crashes, and the reboot takes for ever.

You can't use the camera because it causes the Palm system to crash, and the reboot takes for ever.

Finally I had Sprint start up my old phone again because this one sucks.

    "Dissapointed" on by steveva11

    Pros: Good reception, excellent organizer

Cons: No preloaded screensavers, no large clock

Summary: I read many of the opinions on cnet and took a chance on the centro as my first smartphone. I have been very unhappy with this phone and will take it back to find something else. It is extremely hard to operate and the material given by sprint doesn't answer many of the questions on how to operate it. After having a samsung A900 for two years it was always easy to find important things in the tools or settings folders. This phone doesn't have either, like I said something simple like a screensaver I spent two days just trying to find them. To finally find it didn't come with any. I did find it sad that there wasn't any clock but one very small one in the call log section, if you have problems seeing you will definitely need your glasses. Overall I wouldn't recommend phone to anyone, very dissapointed.

"Good Smart Phone for the Beginner" on by ngivens88

Pros: Good Camera, Easy Read Display, Simlicity

Cons: Call Waiting, Small buttons, Difficult Scroll

Summary: I have had the displeasure of owning two of these devices. The first one returned due to a defect that it would "overheat" while accessing the internet. Then I was forced to take a black on as the red ones were at the time sold out. Now, the call waiting is what most gets to me! Once on a call if a more important call comes in you cannot disconnect the original call without disconnecting BOTH. However after 5 minutes or so of conversing with Line 2 it will automatically disconnect BOTH lines. Heaven forbid you be in some sort of emergency. Next, I'm a woman and at times I have difficulty using the tiny keypad provided, who are these phones for, Keebler Elves? As the programs are typically easy to use it is a bit outdated in appearance but I guess if it works. The only thing I genuinly like about this phone at all is the camera, the pictures are pretty amazing. I'd refer this phone to someone who is small fingered text mogul with lack of incoming calls who loves to IM & take pix. That's all its good for.
