"Hated it on day 1, fell in love on day 3."4.5 starson by girlscout68
Pros: excellent internet speed, can have multiple apps open at one time, brilliant display, wireless sync, the swipe of a finger magnifies or minimizes the screen - very fun phone.
Cons: battery life is dreadful, no video recorder, no picture editing options, the gesture bar often takes more than one swipe to get back to previous screens, wish it came in other colors - but that's just a girly thing for me.
Summary: I got this phone 3 days ago. I hated it for the first day & a half, but I was being too impatient with having to learn a whole new phone system after having a Blackberry. The Blackberry Curve and the Palm Pre are like apples & oranges - I was trying to hard to compare the two by each feature. After spending time learning the Pre's functions and how to "operate" it, I've done a 180. I was in love with my Curve, but its internet speed doesn't even compare to Palm. The BB couldn't sync with my work e-mail, but the Palm does. I'm a busy mom & need to keep my calendar & contacts updated without having to input them in each of my e-mail calendars - the Palm syncs everything together in a snap. I wish the battery life wasn't so awful, but I have a usb cable for my work & home computers and a car charger, so keeping the phone charged isn't that tough. The lack of photo editing options and no video recorder is a bummer, but I've hardly ever used my cell phones to record videos, so no big deal there. I do take pictures a lot though, so I hope the lack of editing options doesn't cause too many problems. Overall it's a great phone for me and I look forward to learning more about it as I go along. I'll miss Crackberry.com's apps., but Zedge.com has tons of fun ringtones and other stuff, so I'll adapt! The Wake...thank you so much for your reply. I found your review to be so detailed and informative that I felt comfortable asking about your opinion of the Pre vs. BB. I am now TOTALLY sold on my Palm, however I exchanged it for the Pixi - mainly beause of the lower price and the "girly" factor - not really a legit reason I know, but I couldn't help myself. Anyway, I love the Pixi as much as I love the Pre Plus, so I am sold...no more Blackberry's for me unless they find a way to make one that comes close to the amazing Palm I have now! Thanks again for responding and making me more informed. I will be looking for your reviews down the road when new Palms or other smartphones launch. :)
