"Decent PDA, helpful but has some faults." on by palminfospot

Pros: Plays MP3s, color display, userfriendly

Cons: Low resolution, bulky design, internal cables unplugged, small keyboard (to be expected)

Summary: This was quite a fine Treo, with few faults. I do wish I didn't lose my charging cable, so I can't use it now. Overall, a strong performer.

"Good product in theory but enhancements needed in real product" on by 3xthreat

Pros: Great organizer, a lot of features

Cons: software not stable, not physically reliable...

Summary: This is my 3rd treo 270 in one year. You need to install a radio reset program to fix their software bug. The lid broke on me on my 3rd one. I have to use crazy glue to fix it. Short battery life. volume too low on speaker.

    "Tremendously useful PDA phone" on

Pros: This is a neat, compact and stupendously tiny (for a PDA phone) device. If used with propoer applications, will prove to be indespensible to any one.

Cons: There are some minor complains, like the lack of phone based features (the built in address book is terribly limited), but overall, nothing that can't be fixed via applications available all over the internet

"Great idea - but it NEVER works" on

Pros: Great idea - palm and phone combo

Cons: I have replaced mine 4 times in the last two months - I give up - the rebuilts they send are just as bad as the one I send back - lasts anywhere from 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks then it just DIES.

"I love it. Replaces my palm and my phone" on

Summary: I got it at the beginning of the year when it had that clearance rebate. ($150 off of $249 if you signed up for $19.99/month GPRS with T-mobile). The phone is pretty good. At first it seems to be missing features like redial, but if you just click the call button again, it displays the last number dialed. It's way small versus a Palm III (more like an m100), although it sort of seems like a remedial size flip phone when you are using it (not quite as bad as the phone on "Trigger Happy TV", though). Sometimes when switching from palm functions to phone or web, you wish you had a faster processor (ESPECIALLY the web browser), but mostly, things integrate really well: you can copy/paste numbers into the dialer, dial out of the addressbook, write a memo while on the phone, etc. The speaker phone is great, and sometimes you can just use that in a crowded/noisy area instead of trying to hear throught the a-little-too-quiet receiver. I love this thing. I sort of wish I had gotten the color one (I had a palm IIIc before), but for the price, it seems like a good deal. Until recently, the newer (270, 300) Treos didn't allow graffitti, which was the main reason I picked the 180g. I guess now there's a free add-on application that puts a virtual graffitti window on the screen for those devices, but I don't know how well it works. I'm definitely pro-graffitti vs. thumb-typing. Also, I love that the vibrate/ring control is a physical switch right on the phone, easier to change than any cell phone I've had, which required navigating menus. The one caveat is that the battery doesn't last very long, so you should get a car charger, and always remember to charge. One nice thing is that the phone is easy to turn on and off (hold the power switch), so you could go home, and turn the phone off for the night, while leaving the PDA available. It also shuts down the phone early enough so you don't totally lose PDA functionality all the time. I did read a lot of complaints on certain message board of people having problems with their Treos, most notably regarding the receiver on the lid failing because the wires would rub on the inside of the hinge, but I've not had that problem. My recommendation, if you have a cell phone and a palm, is GET ONE OF THESE TREOS. They are great.
