    "Very bad phone"

    by phil09876 on May 27, 2005

    Pros: Decent email, bright screen

    Cons: Very, very bad phone

Summary: If what you need is a PDA, this is OK. But if a cell phone is one of the top 3 or 4 features you are after (at least with Cingular), run away as fast as you can from the Treo 650. It drops at least 40% of calls. It even drops them as it is dialing them. Just today, I was disconnected 4 times on a call with a consultant. I finally borrowed someone's Motorola Razor (also using Cingular) and talked uninteruptedly for 20 minutes or so. What a luxury!

I have the same problems with many dropped calls, returned the first one and have the same problems with the new one. Perhaps one large batch of bad TREO's went out to both Cingular and Verizon...regardless I didn't pay $400 for a phone that makes me want to throw it out the window everytime I can't get a signal or when it drops calls.

RU sure the CINGULAR network isn't to blame????

Cingular is GSM, Verizon is CDMA. These are different kinds of phones!!!

Well Hmmm - not surprised you are having problems with CINGULAR....

Wonder how it works on VERIZON?

I find it funny that so many people do not stop
and think of what can cause a dropped calls.
I bought 6 TREO 650s for my Company, 5 have never dropped a call and are used all over the USA and over seas. 1 I sent back and recieved a replacement in 2 days because it was a defective phone.
Note to Verizon users, if you want to access the internet with a TREO 650 It will cost you $45 over you basic plan Cost. Verizon in an attempt to make big money has Blocked TREO 650s from the internet unless you use Their New High Speed program flashed into TREO 650/Verizon models.
You have been warned , $15 gets you unlimited internet access with Cingular , LOL $45 through Verizon
Its a great phone, does take awhile to learn everything it does PalmOne Now has a WiFi Card for it. War driving anyone?
    Have fun Bill MacGregor
