"Disappointing" on by vladvevoi
Pros: Probably Best Windows Mobile PDA
Cons: Microsoft Windows Mobile
Summary: PDA OS difficult to use, slow if many apps are running, need to WIN-OK to kill programs. Hiddent reset button is most used function.

"Windows Mobile not here yet, doubt 6.0 will be any better" on by roadwarrior2000
Pros: No antenna, but wish I had one because Cingular consistently drops calls
Cons: Software breaksdown too much, feels like Beta+
Summary: Purchased this recently and regret it. Battery life extremely poor, I think if you turn off phone service you get 12 hours... but what's the point, it's a phone that should be ON!

"DONKEY DOO DOO" on by bruno1983
Pros: 9 more months in contract
Cons: Micro$haft OS --- POS BATTERY --- MA-BELL
Summary: The Motorola "Brick" from the 1980's had longer battery life.
Don't bother with the Treo 750, smack the AT&T salesman if he tries to sell you on it.
*** NEWS FLASH ***
Third-party batteries are just as bad. The guy selling them on this site is scamming people. -
"Disappointing - I expected better" on by RandyJ1s
Pros: No Antenna, Soft Cover ... it's a Treo
Cons: Locks up Constantly, poor battery life, poor sound and volume ... the list could go on
Summary: I have used a Treo for over 5 years and recently upgraded from the 650. I like the Palm OS, but I decided to try the 750 because it seemed to make more sense to use windows rather than the array of 3rd party software I had assembled over the years to kluge Palm to work with all my windows work documents. After 2 months, my assessment is that the 3rd party software writers are far smarter than the Windows Mobile writers. Someday this may be a good phone, when they figure out how to marry the software to the hardware effectively, but I can't wait that long.
The phone locks up whenever a new call comes in while you are on the phone. When you finish your call, you have to reboot (take out the battery) to be able to use the phone again for anything. It notifies you when you miss a call at the time it comes in, but unexplainedly does not post notice of missed calls or new voice mails on the main screen. If you pull up a name from your contact list to call, the bottom left touch screen button is "dial" ... if you don't have the number in your contact list and instead go to the on-screen dial pad to dial, that same button becomes "delete" ... C'mon guys, what were you thinking there?!?
This phone's constant failures have honestly gotten me in trouble both at work and with my girlfriend for not responding to phone calls, text messages or emails that I either never received or received, without any visible notice of having received. You quickly learn to begin each day by rebooting the phone and then repeat throughout the day as necessary - if you are using the data functions at all, that will be 8-10 times a day at least.
The volume is too low to rely on the alarm functions at all - I have actually missed appointments as a result, and some of the editing screens just leave you scratching your head how something that used to be so simple on a Palm OS device could be made to become so difficult.
Short answer - if you love the Treo, like I do - stick to the Palm OS for now. I am willing to believe that the Windows Mobile software can be very good on some phones, but they simply haven't married the two together yet on this phone. -
"Great phone- I like it a lot more than the 8525" on by Richvking
Pros: Feels great, fast, responsive, ok battery life.
Cons: Screen resolution could (should) be better.
Summary: This is the third time that Cnet's editorial ratings have lead me astray. From now on, I'm only going to rely on user ratings.
I recently signed up for a new contract with Cingular, and I was trying to decide between the Cingular 8525 or the Treo 750. Because the Treo was so new, not many user ratings had been completed, so I was forced to rely on the editors' ratings of the two phones, ratings that definitely favored the 8525. I bought the 8525, and almost immediately I hated it. I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't there. The 8525 felt horrible to hold (I started to call it my "brick"), the slide out keyboard constantly opened in my pocket, the internet surfing speed was pathetic, it was heavy, one-handed use was impossible, and I had many issues with different programs functioning properly. After about four days, I decided to trade it for a Treo 750, but no Cingular store within 70 miles of me had it in stock. Therefore, I was forced to use the brick for another ten days before a store near me finally received a shipment of Treos.
I love the Treo. The only two things that the 8525 has on this phone is that it has a bigger screen and a bigger keyboard. The Treo feels great to hold. I constantly felt like I was going to drop my 8525 because it had no grip, but the Treo has a sweet rubber grip that feels great. Also, I'm able to surf the net so much faster than I could with the 8525. As a phone, and as a PDA, this thing is great. I'd say this is the perfect balance between a PDA and a phone. I love how Treo has integrated the Google search bar into the main screen. I haven’t yet had to take my battery out or restart my phone due to software issues. I’ve had the Treo now for a week, and I love it. I would never go back to the 8525. Read the reviews of people who have used the phone for weeks rather then someone who used the phone for a couple of hours. I'm not giving this phone a 10 because the screen resolution really should be better.
