"Treo/Windows Mobile veteran loves it - with one exception" on by Beavis7

Pros: All the features of a Mogul w/o the annoying pullout keyboard and lack of memory

Cons: Batterly life, battery life, battery life

Summary: Two days in, this phone is everything I had hoped for (with the exception listed above). I had been using a Mogul - but the pullout keyboard (annoying) and lack of memory (more annoying) made it less than optimal. The 800w seems to solve these problems, with one-handed operation and enough memory to minimize sluggishness. Once I'm able to purchase an extended battery, I think that I will love this thing (rather than my current case of like).

The leather case for the HTC mogul (check ebay) actually fits the Treo 800w perfect. My wife has the Mogul but she doesn't use the case so I took it for the Treo 800w and it's great!

I improved my 800w battery life substantially by 1)downloading the patch from Palm that addresses charging, and 2) charging exclusively from the USB connection to my computer. Battery life improved from 8 hours to about 36 hours with modrate use. There is also a 2600 mah battery available from asian suppliers.

lol. I agree. I finally returned my instinct and exchanged it for the palm 800... so worth it!

As far as the battery life goes, yes, it's a little bit on the downer side. But for everything that the palm is used for, it's actually pretty decent. I just keep a home charger and a car charger and always carrying a spare battery.

Yeah, that bad. lol. But as far as performance, so far, can't complain.

P.S. Where can I find a good case for this?
