"It's cool looking but I hate it." on by mrspainter2006
Pros: Dual keyboard is convenient. Slide feels sturdy. Has many features.
Cons: It freezes. Everyone sounds muffled. Bulky. Difficult to navigate for some people.
Summary: It freezes, leaving me unable to call out or answer the phone. I can't even turn it off. I have to remove the battery. Everyone sounds muffled or like they have cotton in their mouth. I HATE talking on the phone. Texting is okay. If you log on to the internet, it is difficult to log off. I have to turn the phone off & hope that it disconnects. I was once logged on all day and didn't know it. I found out when I received the bill. The ring volume is not very loud. I have to leave it on vibrate most of the time. If I had to do it over again, I would not pick this phone. I read the reviews and they didn't seem that bad. I must not have read them carefully enough.

"Sliding Toy" on by snydayz
Pros: Excellent camera. Dual Slide. Battery Life
Cons: Bulky. Not User friendly.
Summary: I bought this phone a week ago. Prior to, I had the Blackberry Pearl. My only issue with the Pearl was the side charger entry would fail to connect with charger (prohibiting phone from charging). Had two Pearls - same issue. So I decided to try the Pantech Matrix Pro. The Pro is very bulky. Not user friendly - even if you read the manual. With the Pearl, 99% of the time I had reception. This is not the case with the Matrix Pro. Half the time, I don't even have reception at my house. And when it notifies me that I have a voicemail - I check the voicemail, but the phone still shows I have a voicemail - even though I don't. I setup my hotmail account on my phone. For about three hours, it would notify me when I had a new message in my Hotmail inbox, but that was short lived. I attempted to disable my hotmail on my phone & set it up again - now, I am unable to do so. Perhaps I should give this phone a little more time before returning to the store and purchasing something else; however a USER FRIENDLY phone is very important to me & this phone does not meet that need.

"I disliked this phone right out of the box." on by lilmizzaniml
Pros: The dual slider is pretty neat.
Good battery life with my level of usage.Cons: I came from a Blackjack 2 with the keyboard on the front, and I felt like the Matrix Pro's keyboard was cramped and I had a difficult time using it in comparison to a keyboard on the front. Also, many times the phone would eat texts and phone calls.
Summary: The phone is bulky and an awkward size. If you're coming a Blackberry-style phone, chances are you'll agree with the keyboard feeling awkward as well. Also, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to type using one hand with this phone, something I did often on my previous phone.
It took me four months to get my symbol functionality working. Following the directions got me nowhere and I figured out what to do by complete accident, which was not the way to get to the symbols outlined in the phone's instructions.
While my battery life was excellent during my use of this phone, I don't keep apps running, don't talk too much, and am not a rabid texter. However, the battery suddenly took a nose dive, going from fully charged to dead within a 9-10 hour span with no use. It also ate at least three phone calls and two texts during that span. I run a small business on the side and this is unacceptable.
I use my alarm function quite often, and just didn't like the way it worked on this phone.
The phone gets hot quite easily with phone calls as short as 20 minutes.
All in all, I am just not happy with this phone. I will likely not ever choose a phone in this style again and probably never another Pantech brand phone. After trying a lot of the major brands over the years, I just find myself being attracted to Samsung phones. Honestly, the only reason I have this phone is because it was the insurance replacement for my BlackJack 2, and I had no choice in the matter. I would not have chosen it then, and I certainly would not choose it now. -
