"I actually own one."
Pros: Great screen, great battery life, its not a windows mobile device. Love the music player and there are ways around a blackberry data plan.
Cons: None really. Its pretty big but that gives more room for buttons and the large screen.
Summary: Unlike most of the people on here bashing this phone. I own one! I hated my DUO and my Blackjack 2, I can't stand windows mobile devices and the poor battery life that comes with them, I also dislike the fact that all of my windows devices didn't make very good phones. And why is it that none of the employees at the local AT&T stores use iPhones? And why do the people that work with all these phones dislike it so much? I've tried 5 different phones lately in my search for the one that does everything I want it to do and the Bold is the only phone I've EVER owned that I would pay to have repaired or replaced. I'm done searching, I found the best device for me. Sorry I can't give an uninformed review of other devices that I've never owned, but I guess that I'm just not like everyone else. The Bold has a large vibrant screen, easy to use well placed keyboard, the clearest loudest speaker of any phone I've used. NO ITUNES to deal with and you can use the browsers with a regular AT&T data plan ( $15 a month for unlimited data). It also comes with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so after you drag and drop your music onto your installed micro SD memory card, all you have to do is plug in your headphones and go. I'm sick of music phones that don't have a headphone jack or USB cable, whats the point? I've tried the LG VU and I wasn't impressed (I couldn't text with it to save my life). So I guess I'm saying that I don't like touch screens. The point of all this is that I feel that the Bold is the best phone I've ever ownwed and I won't be switching ant time soon.

I have owned the iphone,..constant issues with it, if you love Apps,.the iphone is for you.!!.Next came the HTC/AT&T Tilt,..would probably work good as a weapon of sorts due to it being so heavy/ bulky..the OS on the Tilt was crap for a Microsoft product..very disappointed...took the plunge and spent the $$$ on the Blackberry Bold 9000,..has been the best smartphone ever. If your looking for a smartphone thats well rounded and user-friendly,..the BB 9000 is for you.!!!! It will take one hell of a phone to ever get me to leave my Blackberry.

How do you get around the Blackberry plan?

My feelings exactly - the best phone I ever had in my life.
I am a Blackberry fan from now on.
A friend of mine also suggested a solu.comtion for the poorish browser - Opera !
Although Opera has virtually disappeared from PCs, it is a big noise for mobiles.
Download it for the Bold from mini.opera.com
You will be amazed.. -
thanks for giving an honest and straight forward opinon. I'm due to upgrade next week and I was tossed between the Bold and the IPHone. I've seen both and I wanted to hear more from actual users. I have a Blackberry Curve and love it. I just needed to know that Blackberry really stepped their game up. The salesman are there to do their jobs and I can't fault them for that. But if I'm going to drop this kind of money I need to hear from real life use for the device. I'm also happy to hear the browser is a little bit better. That was my only real wish list for the blackberry. I reallly don't have major complaints about any of it's other features. I have my business accounts and personal emails coming in and it's a lifesaver for me.
Thanks again! -
thanks for the help i love blackberry and i hate when people try an knock it your input helps me out a lot, cuz i'm super big on texting and i'm sure this phone is where it's at

I own a Bold and half researched it inside and out. In all truth the iphone and bold are very similar but I find the Bold to have everything i'm looking for. One of my reasons was the mandatory $30 data plan for the iphone whereas this is not the case for the Bold. I think cellphone plans are insane as it is and have wifi networks available to me in most cases so I really have no need for it. if anything to send a MMS but I seldom use that anyways. Thanks for your honest opinions.

Totally agree with you on people who rate things without ever owning or even using one. Way too many people do that on cnet and its not hard to tell who they are. And for everyone who does this GET A LIFE. So you love the product you have thats great, that doesnt mean go out and bash their competitors to make yourself feel like you made the superior choice. A lot of people come on here looking for honest reviews so they can make decisions, don't ruin it for them with your garbage biased opinions.

You actually need to get a blackberry plan for unlimited data and it costs $30 not $15.

I checked this phone out yesterday. I had forgotten about it and was disappointed that the Storm is only going to be available through Verizon. I liked the Bold a lot. The browser looked great a big improvement over the old interface. I was starting to think those icons were really goofy looking. I'm surprised that everyone is bashing it here. I'm trying to decide between this and iPhone. Think I will give this one a shot.
