Pros: Everything needed in small size, excellent call quality

Cons: home screen not customizable without plugin

Summary: I've had more cell phones than I can even remember. I usually lose interest and get a new one within a few months. My last phone was the Tilt, which I used for almost six months, but I am one of those odd people that do not like touch screens. I do not use an earpiece, and do way too much dialing. I wanted a phone with everything I loved about the Tilt without the touch. The BlackJack II has it. I never used wifi, so I didn't need that. What I wanted was a strong calender/tasks with syncing, excellent call quality and reception, and to be somewhat customizable.

This phone has it all. The burgundy is fantastic looking and the texture on the back makes it even better. The in-call sound is amazing. I can not stand quiet earpieces, but this one is so loud I can't even put it on full volume (awesome!). I have excellent signal and haven't dropped a call, even in places I used to. I had no problems syncing the phone with my computer through Bluetooth. The phone feels great in the hand and the qwerty keyboard is small but very usable.

As for customizing - with the Facade plugin you can do anything you want. After installing that, this phone is perfect. Of all the phones I've had, this is by far my favorite in both looks and functionality. The only reason I rated it a 9 is lack of built in customization (Windows Mobile's fault, really) and the lack of a flash. The camera isn't the best, but it's actually better than the Tilt's, which was HORRIBLE and virtually unusable even with the higher resolution.

I really don't understand the complaints about the battery. I've never had a phone that I didn't have to charge every other day (at least) so for that to be a complaint blows my mind. The last phone I had that only had to be charged once or twice a week was a cheap flip phone with no features at all. With a smartphone - yeah, you might have to actually CHARGE IT. Buy a car charger and get over it. Or go back to cheap flips for kids.

And I'll never understand people that write reviews about a lemon. If you get a bad unit, get another one. Every manufacturer will produce a lemon once in awhile, and it's even more common with cell phones.

As for it being hard to navigate or complicated - once again, it's a smartphone. If you've used Windows Mobile before, it's the same old thing. If you haven't, expect a bit of a learning curve.

Taking the price into consideration, this phone is amazing. Anyone looking for a smartphone that isn't gigantic and still likes "old fashioned" buttons will not be disappointed in this.

I had no problems syncing the phone with my computer through Bluetooth (it took about 30 seconds the first time, now it takes about 10 seconds). The phone feels great in the hand and the qwerty keyboard is small but very usable. TeleNav works just fine. It can take a minute to lock on, but that is to be expected and it actually locks on a satellite faster than the Tilt did in most cases.
