"Trying to give a realistic rate here..."4.0 starson by Angry_Cotton
Pros: Big screen, 3G & 4G capable, automatic upgrade to the new OS (when available), lots of apps pre-downloaded that older driod users would have to use, 8 MP cam, front/rear cam, nice layout of the applications... certainly a "new-age" phone.
Cons: Not perfect. There are a lot of things that could've been done that weren't (if you compare to what else is out there.) I don't like the way Gmail syncs the contacts so when I tried to sync them using the built-in (free) app of VZW's back-up, my entire ac
Summary: I want to get a few things clear before I put my 15 cents in. 1.) This is my first Droid. Forgive me if I say "common sense" things or mention something that's not considered a big deal b/c I don't know how other vet droid users would rate it. I used to be a die-hard mobile windows fan and was basically forced over to Droid because they are taking over all the phones. 2.) This phone just came out 2 days ago so I've only done so much with it, but wanted to give my opinion up front.UPDATE: I had to put this on my old review because (once again) c-net has it wrong. The young lady who wrote this said that my phone doesn't support Skype Mobile. That's not true. I didn't download it (and went with another program) because of that, and decided to try just in case. I'm having NO ISSUES with it. No offense C-net, but get your crap together. You all did this same thing on the Motorola Xoom and a comment guy put a list of things that were incorrect in the video. Don't leave the msg if you don't know the facts.
Ok. Being the first person in my city to buy this phone on it's arrival, I was super stoked. Getting to the point, overall, it's a very nice phone. I just have a lot of adjusting I have to do. What I'd like to brag about, however, is what you all might want to know about the device when you purchase it @ VZW. First off, it comes with a 32G stoarge card FOR FREE. If you buy the desk mount charger, it's only $50. You get 20% off AND you get another battery INCLUDED. You will also get 25% off of all your accessories that you buy with it. I bought EVERYTHING that comes with this phone plus a USB car charger and spend only $100 for all the accessories. When you consider that VZW sells their 32G mem cards for $89.99 (and this INCLUDES 40% off,) that is a STEAL, but back to the phone...
I love how you don't have to have any extra connections to do things like listen through your earbuds and so on. Sometimes, my internet connection will just... not work. I just restart the device and that usually fixes that. The screen (touch technology) IN MY OPINION is a little too advanced. On my old Samsung, I could just tap the screen with my fingernail and now I have to use my hand - not a stylus or anything else will do because whatever touches it has to have an "electrical current running through it." Wow.
If I had a HDTV, The HDMI would be cool. With Droid phones, it's kind of hard to say what you like or don't like because it's made to personalize to YOUR liking. Anything else I talk about will be about a cool app that I downloaded, but no so much the phone itself. The only thing I can think to say about the phone is that I hate how quickly the screen goes black and when it does, you have to put your passcode back in it. I set it to not do this but every 60 seconds, but it doesn't work. If that screen goes black, be ready to put in your password again.
I hope this helps. I didn't want to write a crappy review, but I wanted to be realistic on what I thought the latest phone was all about.
