"Awesome phone that is great for PDA Nubes!"
on by bjacobs79Pros Mouse, Touchpad or Stylus option, Wi-FI, Internet ease of use. Active Sync is a brease and easy
Cons Typing isnt that bad but if I had to write a Con i guess that would be it. But its not as bad as some people say.
Summary I have never used a PDA Style phone before. Sat down with it for about 2 hours and basically figured out everything on the phone. I love how i dont have to use ITunes to add music to the phone, really easy to dump msic and data using the Active Sync. E-mail easy to sync up. Great phone if your new to PDA's and opted this over the Blackberry Bold b/c it was $100 cheaper and the Bold is too wide and more for the Corporate user.

"A cool, Solid gadget"
on by s_chowPros Long battery life (considering talk time and light browsing), excellent sound quality, solid signal reception, a handy & sleek navigational mouse, very responsive touch screen, sturdy built.
Cons I havent had much frustration with it yet. Though sometimes it responds slow during heavy application usage (an IE download together with an active WM player). But you can't get everything smooth even on your mammoth desktop...
Summary I have had this gadget for almost 3 weeks now. I swicthed from Tmobile to ATT just for a cool phone... I am not going to repeat the pros and cons from above. Few things more: the touchscreen QWERT keyboard is not of much use for me (if you own fat fingers like mine) , but it's helpful while making calls. So for email and texting I go conventional. But overall, the touchscreen is perfect, I say it because all those little actions (like tapping on x on application windows and other tiny places of notifications) can be done very smmothly. If you are not satisfied with the factory default Audio quality (i.e. sound too low), there is backdoor tweaking for it. Also internet sharing is another of my most favorite feature. I am using the internet on ATT's 3G network and it works fine. But yes, there's some tweaking to be done again for this.
MAKE SURE TO DO SOME RESEARCH on Epix user group if you decide to buy the phone or already have bought it. It has lots of cool features that doesn't come factory default. Take full advantage of all it has.
Bottom line is if you are looking for a smart phone not only to talk on it but also to spare some time in your leisure, GO FOR IT! -
"Overall a great phone."
on by epaflaPros All the capabilities such as WIFI-Bluetooth-Camera-Touch screen-Qwerty key pad.
Great speed online.Cons Ringer ascending tone is undesireable and ring should be extended to 10 rings.
Summary Great piece of equipment. Takes a while to learn to operate properly as could be expected with new equipment. After the learning process this is a great phone that is easy to use and is like having a computer in your pocket. The high operating speed is great. I am glad I did not listen to all the derogatory comments about the Epix. Will definitely recommend to others.

"Snappy performance and ease of use."
on by cjones277Pros Optical mouse almost eliminates the need for the stylus. GPS unit in the phone can be used with third-party navigation software. Excellent streaming media performance. Bluetooth 3G tethering DOES work with a few changes of settings.
Cons 128 dpi display causes many PocketPC applications not to work or fail to display properly. Not a very compelling software package out of the box. Features hidden/disabled by AT&T. Proprietary charger/data cable and headphone connectors.
Summary This phone is FAST. Multitasking is easily handled by the speedy 624MHz CPU. Much of this phone's potential is marred by the typical AT&T practice of disabling features in order to charge fees for shoddy replacements. Tethering is possible (both USB and Bluetooth PAN) once you enable the features AT&T hides. This does NOT require hacks. All you need in on the phone already.
The aGPS unit can be used with Google Maps or Garmin for turn-by-turn navigation - as AT&T Navigator is not worth it. Just change the GPS port to COM1 and it will be detected. The Garmin XT software is particularly useful since it can use the phone's data connection to get up-to-date traffic, weather, and fuel price info on-the-fly.
The keyboard starts off a bit stiff, but "breaks-in" after a couple of weeks. To me, the phone feels really good in hand. It is solid and feels very well-built. In contrast, the Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) felt cheap and clunky - I returned it to get my Epix back.
Once you add a few software packages, the phone becomes VERY useful. Opera Mobile 9 really improves the internet browsing experience and can be operated by finger touch.
Recommended Free Software:
Google Maps
ClearTemp
Advanced Config (Requires .NET Compact Framework 3.5)
HTC X-Button
Hamachi
Recommended Pay Software:
Garmin XT (If you want full navigation)

"Epix so for is in Epic Proportions"
on by JEBECOMAPros 1. Mouse is awesome
2. Mobil office is set up better than the Black Jack and seems easier to utilize
3. Touch screen is very useful. Comes with a stylus to edit spreadsheets
4. Function keys are Cool
5. Bluetooth connects quick without any setupCons 1. Qwerty keyboard seems stiff but it really is not that bad.
2. Keys seem to be a little cramped together than the Black Jack. However, I have not made any errors typing yet.
3. Battery is at 50% and I have only been programming it.Summary I looked at the I-Phone, AT&T Tilt, and the Epix. The I-Phone I think is not a business tool. The only other phone that I would look at would be the Blackberry Bold but it is not due out until Nov 4th.
After two weeks, I found that the phone stays on "Increasing Ring" even though you change it. I really would like it to to have an up down button. When scrolling through emails you can't go up are down, you have to select the message with the pointer and then it opens the message even though you don't want to. Extra Pros are that the Mobile Windows works really great and the screen is big enough to do what you need. You are able to use your finger tip/nail to select things without pulling out the stylus. It takes great pictures The cons other than the above are that most of the supplied ring tones are not loud enough. Pressing speed dial buttons sometimes makes the phone lock up. Other than that I would still recommend this phone but it is tough to not have that little scroll wheel on the side that the BlackJack had. It would come in very handy in addition to the current features.
This is a good phone and it has a lot of cool perks with it.
