"Not really what I expected"2.0 starson by watsdamattau
Pros: Screen is beautiful
I like the LARGE text
Tiles are nice
Cons: Overly sensitive touch screen
Outlook calendar and contacts don't sync
Excel files are nowhere to be found
Summary: I got this phone thinking that it was the perfect phone. The screen was great, the interface was fast and it had Office 2010. In fact Office 2010 was the reason why I chose it over the Motorola Atrix.Just update that the music part of the phone is really, really nice. I love the album covers, but sometimes if you let it sit a background showing the group shows up. Very nice touch.
HOWEVER, after a morning of frustration I'm starting to believe the HTC Tilt 2 (and original Tilt) was a lot easier and better to use. I got the phone set up the way I thought I'd like. All I needed was to sync my contacts and my calendar from my Outlook 2010 that's on my Windows 7 computer. After jumping through hoops just to get my contacts into the phone (had to export my contacts and import it in hotmail(!)). Now I need to get my calendar events onto the phone. Well, found out there's no way. I'll need to do it in hotmail and not use Outlook. I read there's a way to see both calendars (regular Outlook and Hotmail) in Outlook, but that's ridiculous I need to do that. So, my contacts and my calendar on my PC won't be synced in Outlook 2010. Why did I get this phone again?
To top it off I had an Excel spreadsheet I wanted to work on. I synced the folder to Live Mesh earlier thinking it was syncing to the phone. Nope. I found out after a lot of research that I need to use Skydrive and get the files there. I'm supposed to use Skydrive as a virtual drive and my Excel file won't reside on the phone? When I'm on an airplane and I need to work on a Word or Excel document, I'm SOL because it resides in a cloud. Just great. Microsoft's response was "you can email for the files to yourself." Uh, I'd rather ACTIVE-SYNC it to the phone, thank you.
My initial thoughts of the phone was fantastic and I was really excited, but after trying to get the important information onto the phone it has become a huge frustrating ordeal. I thought this operating system was supposed to be geared towards the novice and not someone who is Microsoft Certified. I'll probably be taking this phone back and getting the Atrix instead. If that's as frustrating then I'll get my Tilt 2 fixed. Even THAT has Office 2010 on it, was able to sync my contacts and calendar and it was easier to get files onto it.
