"Evolved Android encumbered by VZW's limitations"4.0 starson by jkirk1626
Pros: Comprehensive software update. Stunning screen. VZW's 4G regularly above 20 MBpS. Ample horse power for performance and speed.
Cons: Weak speaker-phone. Outside very quiet conditions, you'll be forced to hold the speaker to your ear.
Poor bat life. Can't get thru a day with moderate use.
Slow landscape-portrait transition
Calendar & Picasa apps have kinks.
Summary: I own it. I recommend it but it's still Androind: work in progress.
I've had the Galaxy Nexus since Dec 16, 2011. VZW overnighted it when I ordered it on its Dec 15 release date. My perspective is based on my previous phone: the original Motorola Droid OG. My Motorola Droid OG was a solid piece of hardware but I'd rooted its OSes to versions that its processor really couldn't handle. It got to the point where it regularly froze for 20 seconds at a time.
The Galaxy Nexus is very fast compared to my original Droid. While I'm an Android fan, even with two 1.2 GHz processors and a GB of RAM, this Still suffers Android's notorious delays. A much less powerful iPhone 3GS is more responsive. The Galaxy Nexus's Portrait/Landscape transitions are still delayed.
Thank greedy VZW for spoiling what ought to have been an unadulterated Nexus experience. No Google Wallet. This has the specs but still feels like a rush job. Its car mount is poorly designed compared to the Motorola Droid OG's custom-made windshield mount.
While in its car mount, the GPS Nav will show a 90° error to the right while car is stationary. Corrects when car is in motion.
Picasa syncs even when you disabe pic sync. In Gallery, when you select a Picasa album, you cannot delete that selected Picasa album.
