  • "Great Device. Works Well!"
    on by Hacknet07

Pros Everything about this device is a Pro..No Cons

Cons The delay onto US Arrival is the only Con

Summary Awesome device. Good for those who want a tab-phone and don't mind a slight larger device in their pockets. Unless you are an Emo and wear really tight pants.

  • "Making a phone that works great in a clinical setting."
    on by MELV1N

Pros - Really fast phone for switching/opening aps.
    - GPS works exceptionally
    - I really love the stylis for reading online material.
    - Reading articles is easy on the eyes.
    - Skype works great on this phone, "Hi Mom :)"
    - Netflix
    - 32GB upgrade =+

Cons - ATT bloat-ware, I would pay for the app that takes this crap off my phone.
    - Really flimsy/cheap back cover
    - Low Volume.
    - Big Phone! It is in my lab coat at work and cargo short pocket on my days off.
    - For an 8MP camera, the photos seem soft.

Summary I just upgraded to the Note from the Samsung Galaxy Captivate two months ago. The Note works essential the same, but is much much faster. I work in a clinical setting and find that I keep much more reference documents on my phone, because it is quick to access.

    Upgrade Recommendations:
    - SEIDIO Extended life Battery-5000mv. I bought a Seidio for my Note and find it to be a high quality product. It adds about the twice the multimedia use time. I can get around 8-10 hrs use with all the bells and whistles going (wifi, streaming music, phone, gps and surfing) and for days if I only use it as a phone. It makes the bottom half of the Note about twice as thick, but I find that since the phone is already big, it does not seem to have a big effect on the overall size. The battery comes with a modified back phone cover. Negative: For some reason Seidio does not make a protective case for phones using their extented battery, which is ironic since protective covers are also what they specialize in.
    - 32 gig SD-Card- The phone is even faster with music, pics and documents on the external card.
    - My next investment will be the latest blue tooth

My captivate had an ingenious sliding lock for the back cover, but the Note has a surprisingly cheap back cover design for such an expensive phone. I haven't had the inevitable crash and burn phone drop to the floor, yet. I am really afraid that the phone could break when it finally happens (especially with the the larger battery).

I am a stylis Geek. I don't use it for writing so much but for scrolling through articles. When Reading a CNN or CNet article, an entire paragraph usually fits within the screen (sideways), and it does not require magnifying glasses. The stylis allows fine tuned scrolling without smugging the screen.

Calendar function works well. I have an insane schedule, and the gmail based calendar has an expanded monthly veiw that gives a quick glance of the month's agenda. My wife makes schedule changes on her tablet which makes the updates to my phone.

Conclusion: I don't have the patience nor time at work for a tablet, because I am constantly on the move. The Note excells for those who find that their breaks for surfing the internet or reading are in between work stations. I find that as a phone it is much more cumbersome on my days off. I am generally not one to carry a backpack so finding a place to put the Note has been an issue- It's great in the coffee shop, but it's getting it there that can be painful.

    - ATT bloat-ware, WHO BUYS THIS CRAP WHEN YOU CAN GET IT FOR FREE? I would pay for the app that takes these app icons off my phone.

Functions I love: GPS works great (the captivate's was horrible). The screen is perfect for Netflix in bed. Facing cam for Skype works well. Voice Cammand is adequate- I am still learning. I have big hands and find that texting is much easier with this phone. Good luck- I haven't regretted it.

  • "A new breed of computing devices:the hand-held computer"
    on by bartmanpt

Pros - Screen (colors, resolution and blacks!)
    - Speed (a powerhorse!)
    - S Pen (great for taking notes!)
    - 8 Mpx camera (Full HD recording and very good Pics)
    - Flexibility of the Android OS
    - Autonomy
    - Expansion (micro SD card + micro USB port)

Cons - Android Gingerbread (despite being recently updated to the 2.3.6 version, it still lacks the speed and the "bells and whistles" of the ICS version)
    - S Pen can be difficult to use in portrait mode when writing at the top of the screen

Summary This is the first sample of a new type of devices, the hand-held computer. It encompasses features to replace both a smart-phone and a tablet. Reading books and other documents, check email and the web, taking notes on the fly, recording videos and taking pictures are just some of the possibilities available. I have been using it for the past two months and I couldn't be happier! Everyday I discover a new App adding a new functionality... today it was the "Instant Heart Rate" App.

  • "Possibly the nicest of all the smart phones!"
    on by pwbaron

Pros - large, clear screen but still fits in a pocket. Videos, movies, photos are full size. The huge phone size makes for a great fashion statement!
    - light and sleek design
    - ample battery life
    - samsung offers lots of features

Cons - the wide screen makes it difficult for one-handed screen manipulation, texting (for thumbers), and balancing.

Summary I've used an iPhone for 3 years. Before that I used palm phones and windows mobile phones. This one takes the cake. The phone was odd at first due to its sheer size but I grew accustom to it within a few days. The Android system is a breeze to learn and more versatile than IOS. Consider this - if you're using your phone to surf, email, read, play, or looking at any screen function requiring detail you won't find a phone better than this. Video and photo viewing is unsurpassed. To get the most out of the battery you'll need to add the "Juice Defender" app and adjust the settings accordingly. You'll get about 4-5 hours of combined screen/talk time in a 16 hour phone day. If you use a holster/case like I do there's currently only one available (about $18 from Boxwave). It's a bit precarious but good enough to hold you over until more improved ones come around.

  • "It's a 11 on a scale 1 to 10.!"
    on by muuch23

Pros The camera is gorgeous, the screen is big and the color is vivid and brilliant. The resolution 800*1200 on a 5.3 inch screen make everything crystal clear. The speaker is loud enough. The media on here is top notch hbo to go, Netflix, and 1080p movie

Cons That some games do not support this device like Hulu plus, EA games and other apps that need to get on board this is the phone of 2012.

Summary At first you have to get use to the big screen, after a couple days you will fall in love with this super phone this is more than just a smart phone. Plus I didn't even mention the s pen. That why I rated the phone a 11 on a scale 1 to 10. Only I phone lover be hating on this phone but even tech geeks had fallen in love with this phone. Not to mention LTE. Wow this phone is the truth!!!!!!.
