"Everything I want from a smartphone."4.0 starson by OneUpper
Pros: -Large screen.
-Super AMOLED HD+ display.
-Samsung firmware can be spotty. I recommend backing up and reinstalling firmware manually.
-Battery depletes fast. Luckily you can buy extra batteries for dirt cheap.
Summary: I purhcased this phone as a upgrade on AT&T last november of 11'. Using this phone for almost a year now I can say its stil relevant to smartphone standards which is amazing considering how fast smartphones change every 3 months.
The phone is a little bulky for people who came from smaller phones like the Iphone but you quickly adapt to its size when you realize how slim and comfortable it feels when it easily slides into your pocket. Trust me, once you go big and you get accustomed to using the large 4.5' display, you can never go small again.
The phone being a duo-core snapdragon processor is decently fast and can launch most applications seamlessly with little lag. The only physical limitation I find is the 1GB of ram. While sufficient at the launch of this phone now apps are becoming more demanding and are requiring more memory to effectively multi-task. The ram really is the bottleneck of this phone however they fixed this problem with the GSIII by installing 2GB ram.
My only gripe after owning this phone for 1 year is Samsung's horrible offical firmware. This phone came with 2.3.5 Gingerbread and that horribly slowed down the performance of my phone. It was like having a beast of a phone but was on restraints for the most part. Even when ICS FINALLY was released that didn't fix the lackluster performance. What I had to do was in attempt to root my phone I flashed clockworks into my phone, then reformatted my phone from a back up. After reinstalling ICS manually and not on Samsung Kies did I notice a HUGE improvement in the phone's responsiveness and speed. Since then its been a pleasure just breezing through apps with snappy like precision and speed. I feel now I'm experiencing the Galaxy II like performance that has earned it the title of the best selling Android device globally.
