"Big bright screen, fast, great video. Good phone to own"
on by bneberPros The screen is huge, and the brightness made my girlfriend (owner of an iphone4) gasp. It is really fast, no lagging to change screens. Youtube videos load instantly. It is extremely thin, which makes up for the large screen. SWYPE
Cons The battery life isn't the greatest. Lasted me about a day (but I was using it pretty heavily with wifi and gps, which can be easily turned off).
Summary I like the phone in general because of Android first off. Most of the apps are free. Swype texting is amazing. I only use swype now, and I text waaayyy faster than I ever could on my blackberry(and I was pretty fast). The screen is amazingly clear and vibrant, unlike any other I have seen. The video quality is great too. I expected a decent camera and video, but it is very clear with good mic pickup. I really like the android platform, and I feel I will like it more and more each day because of its customizable aspects. But I also feel the phone is as cool if not cooler than android. It fits nicely in the hand, the screen is large enough to read my newspaper online. It is quite a device. I envied all iphone users when I would play with their phones, but now they ask me what other cool thing my phone can do. I recommend the phone to anyone who does more than call and text on their phone, and even if you don't, this is the phone to start trying on. Its a computer in your pocket that's the size of a phone.

"Beautiful screen, great call quality & fast!"
on by melaniep72Pros Lightweight phone, great call quality, much better battery life than other Android phones. Amazingly vibrant & large screen. Phone takes beautiful pics. Very user friendly.
Cons As if there really are any? Battery drains quickly if you've never used a Droid phone before it lasted several hours longer than to my previous phone the HTC Incredible.
Summary Lightweight phone so when you add a protective case it still feels sleek & slim. I left Verizon to get on a family plan w/USCellular w/my boyfriend & we are saving a ton. I went from Verizon's HTC Droid Incredible to this & was very afraid I'd lose so much because the HTC is phenominal however, I gained tons on battery life & it's just as quick. Mesmerize sums up the picture quality of the large 4" AMOLED screen. It takes beautiful, clear pictures & is very user friendly. I am surprised to say that the call quality of this phone far exceeds the HTC Incredible as well. I noticed a huge difference in my first call. Phone is loud, ringers are loud & alarms offer some great choices. I'm so happy that US Cellular if finally offering some great Android phones to compliment their superb customer service. The fact that I'm coming from a great HTC phone & my boyfried is a former basic phone user (LG UX260) & we are both happy speaks volumes. Great phone, I'm happy we went with these.

"Best of US Cellular's Android Bunch"
on by 13davaPros Gorgeous display - especially compared to the HTC Desire and Samsung Acclaim, US Cellular's other Android options.
Cons I went from BlackBerry to the Mesmerize, which is like going from a tank to a sports car. You definitely get the sense that the touchscreen is fragile, but I thought that about all of the models.
Summary 16GB Micro SD comes with it, double the battery life of the other options, Swype technology for texting, easy USB connection for loading/unloading music, pictures and ringtones. Sound is fantastic during calls. The first day of Android can be a bit overwhelming bit the layout makes sense and it's easy to use.
Invest in a shell, screen protector and a protective leather or padded case (you'll have to shop around for one that fits). This is not the kind of phone I'd put in my back pocket.
I've noticed a lag during texting compared to BlackBerry but have heard that this is a touchscreen issue in general. Using the Swype alleviates the lag and it's pretty neat to use. Swype is faster than touch texting even for a novice.
Sync with Gmail and Google calendar was flawless and super easy to set up. -
"Great phone, good call quality. And really fun."
on by hasles57Pros The reviewer who said that Blackberry is a truck and Mesmerize is a sportscar got it right - it's sleek & fast & beautiful. But also durable - I've dropped it multiple times with no damage. Great apps - and so easy to use.
Cons Battery life is so-so. Big screen means big phone - about 5"x2.5" - it fits into the pocket on the inside of my purse and it fits into the cell phone pocket on the strap of my favorite carry-on, but just barely.
Summary I love this phone. I've been coveting iphones forever but didn't want to leave US Cellular (or switch to AT&T). This phone is better and faster and more fun than an iphone - and no dropped calls. And so much better than a Blackberry. I have a Blackberry for work and it's just painful to use it now that I have the Mesmerize.
The Mesmerize screen is big and sharp and clear. There are a ton of Android apps that do almost anything you might want, but the amazing thing to me is how incredibly easy it is to find them and then get them downloaded and installed. You can set the home screens up however you want (you can have as few as 1 or as many as 7) and there's an app to make the home screen look like the HTC (with big time and weather).
I think the battery life will improve when I quit downloading apps and fooling around with the home screens, but I currently charge it just about every night.
I was looking for improved call quality when I bought this phone and I would give it about 8 out of 10 on that.
It is big in your purse or pocket, but it's got to be big to have a screen that size.
The touch screen is rather sensitive, but once you get used to it, you'll love it. It's an incredible phone. And did I mention how fun it is to use? And easy. -
"as good as I've tried..."
on by ericwhansenPros I ran over my captivate, being able to use my accessories (batteries, chargers) I already owned was a bonus. I prefer the mezmerize over the captivate mostly for cosmetic reasons (other than the added camera flash). It seems to be a bit snappier.
Cons I wish it had the internal 16GB sd and an external sd slot (like the captivate). 32GB microSD cards are still a bit pricey. Slightly flimsy feel to the overall build.
Summary I've gotten nothing but pleasure from this phone so far. No technical issues whatsoever and I've had plenty of problems on other handsets.
