"Sprint's New Flagship Phone"4.5 starson by chad_mike
Pros: MP3 and Sirius ready, slim and surprisingly durable form factor, STEREO speakers, beautiful external lcd and huge main screen
Cons: Battery life and memory, weird charge port, finicky voice command system
Summary: I sell Sprint phones at a retailer, and since day one, I have been trained to tell people "If you want the best of the best that sprint has to offer, go with Sanyo." So, when I bought my last cell phone, it was an 8200. I was coming from a very old phone, so the 8200 was a marvel of technology and design in my mind.
My 8200's antenna shorted out while showing a customer how to use an external antenna. I debated for a long time whether or not to get the 8300 or wait for the new volley of phones to come out. On the plus side, the Sanyos have been lauded for their durability and service. However, their lineup has become stale, and I couldn't wait for a phone that could wow me and my customers.
So I bought an A900. Compared to the 8200, this is jawdropping. Not only can it do 10 times more than the Sanyo would ever do, it is surprisingly durable (take the battery cover off, drop it on the floor, and listen) and I get better reception with it. Granted, the 8200 had major flaws, many of which were fixed by the 8300. I did not choose the 9000 because it is just too big, while the new 7500 is not quite out yet, and for the same price as the "Blade," it's no contest.
Sprint has a winner with this phone, and I guarantee that you will see more and more people with sprint logo on their phones in the next year.Updated
I have had this phone for nearly a month now, and I have yet to find anything major wrong with it (NO BUGS YET!). I tried the EV/DO in Kansas City over XMas, and it was blazing. I found a great BT headset (bluespoon ax2), and the battery life is not as bothersome as I expected (still low). Oh, and it is the best all-around handset (excluding the treo) you can buy for Sprint right now.
P.S. Download the phone update over the air to get YL02 and get flagged for EVDO updates. I've talked to my customers about it, and it helps.
