    "Excellent pocket PC"

by jahhim on July 10, 2007

Pros: touch screen, applications, internet functionality, media features

    Cons: no voice dialing

Summary: I hate to do it, but with all the hype i feel i must. It sickens me to see all the people who act as if the i-phone is the first touchscreen phone. There have been many of them produced. I have owned a few myself, including this Samsung i718. My first experiance with a touchscreen phone was the Sony P900. Very nice but very bulky. I then purchased a Motorola A780. I loved it. Not as big as the P900, but again a bit bulky. I then picked up the predicessor to the A780, the A1200 also known as the Ming. Another excellent phone/pocket PC. Very small, very functional, and quite an eye catcher. I grew tired of the flip style phones and moved on to the Motorola Rokr E6. This phone was essentualy the Ming in a canybar style, or so I thought. For some reason Motorola chose to remove the voice dialing feature from this latest touchscreen phone. Other than that, I was very happy with the E6 also. I then chose to take a chance and move from a lenox operating system to a windows operating system. So in my search for something new and different I came across and picked up the orange and black beauty, the Samsung i718. At first the new operating system threw me off, but once I got the hang of it I loved it! EDGE seemed to make internet browsing a breeze, and file management was as easy as using my home PC. Navigation through the phone is pretty smooth, and the planner is very user friendly and functional. You can use any music or video source you want and sync it to the phone for free. No need to buy i-tunes. The only thing I miss is some type of voice dialing function. Then again the i-phone doesn't have this either. Point is there are choices in your search for a touchscreen phone/pocket pc, and this is a damn good one!
