Pros: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Keyboard

Cons: Cannot be insured through Cingular

Summary: I have no clue why CNET rankes this phone as poorly as it did. I LOVE the WI-FI. I use it at work to get outlook e-mail and you can use MSN or AOl messengers. The Cingular Wireless internet is a bit slow, so i only use that if it's really necessary. The screen looks great, the keyboard works pretty well, and the processor is pretty quick. If you're looking to replace a pocket PC and a phone... this is the first truly viable alternative. The treo 650 is nice, but not as versatile as the SX66. The biggest downside is that the call quality isn't quite as good as a "traditional" cellphone (I previously used a nextel i95). However, I use a headset with this phone and now the quality is fantastic. The biggest fault is that Cingular has somewhat "shoddy" reception and you cannot get insurance on this phone. A friend of mine got one and proceeded to drop it. That cost him 150 and it had to be shipped to Siemens. If you're very clumsy, I recommend another phone. I use Microsoft's Voicecommand and I haven't had to manually dial a phone number in months. It also lets you control windows media player, and even open various applications! I've used this phone in Europe (but call Cingular 3 days in advance so they can unlock service in Europe) and it works flawlessly. Great Phone. It deserves a better rating than the audiovox VX6600 available through Verizon specifically because it has Wi-Fi support and the VX6600 does not. It's a powerful phone.

I just returned from Europe and this phone worked everywhere! The 3 day advance notice to unlock it in Europe is no BS, this really screwed me up, but that is a Cingular problem, not the phone. Do not attempt to use a wired headset to talk on this, the wires pick-up a serious hum. Blue tooth works perfect though. Phone works great though more than once I had to show the stewardesses that screen that showed airplane mode on...they don't understand that the unit does not shut off!

I live in the midwest and this phone never works for me,during several phone call my voice fades away and the caller hangs up on me thinking I've hung up on them.It also is a very dangerous to use while driving. I do not have any voice command with this phone,I feel that Siemens should provide this to current users, looks like a lawsuit to me.
I should have sent this sx66 back the first week due to the fact cingular was unable to get it working during the first 2 weeks.
I would get rid of it now if I didn't have over $600.00 invested at this point, a lot of money just to have windows based device
Think carefully before you buy this so called all in one device!

I demo-ed this phone for am month before returning it. I loved all the features and wanted to keep it, but decided that it just wasn't there as a cell phone. First, the volume was too low. Second, there was no hard switch for the speakerphone, meaning that to get the speakerphone on, you need to remove the stylus and find the softswitch to turn it on--very hard to do while driving which is where I use a speakerphone. If they could fix these phone features--because users need an easy-to-use phone--it would be terrific because the other PDA features are perfect. Can they make a model without a keyboard? I don't do the "thumb" thing, but this has the character recognition so you can write and have it transcribed...the keyboard just makes it heavier and clunkier than it needs to be. I hope they come out with a revised model.
