"Average phone with a decent user interface."
on by kraterzPros Nice smooth user interface, the operation feels slick, compact form factor, clear screen.
Cons Average voice quality, very low volume that's nearly unusable in crowded or noisy situations, usual sony ericsson poor quality connector with fiddly contacts that disconnects charger and headset at random.
Summary The only thing going for this phone is the fairly decent screen and user interface with exceptions. The voice volume is pathetically low compared to any phone I've used.
The flimsy and badly designed sony ericsson connector is a permanent source of problems - I've had my voice or the speaker cut off when using a headset midway through the call because I moved or wiggled the phone just a wee bit, I've even had the charger plugged in overnight and the battery flat in the morning because it didn't connect properly, I've seen this problem repeated with every SE phone with this connector. They should abandon it for a USB port.
There are plenty of better phones out there today, Look elsewhere. -

"Fine entry-level multimedia phone with 3G"
on by e_martyPros User interface; good Bluetooth connectivity
Cons Lousy loudspeaker; few customization options; handover fails from time to time. No dedicated Record or Photo button.
Summary I bought this phone about 5 months ago and could never get the battery to last anywhere near the advertised 20 days on standby; mine would go in two days. I even had Fido give me a new phone - to same effect. Just recently, my SIM card failed, I had a new one installed - voila! My battery life has improved dramatically! Apparently, my old SIM was not 3G compatible and the phone was constantly sending signals looking for a network, but the new SIM solved the problem.
Aside from making decent phone calls, this phone has a neat camera that takes reasonable pictures and video. You can assign one of the "soft" keys to activate the camera instantly.
You can also browse the Internet and even display Youtube videos, but websurfing is a chore if you have to type in addresses or other information. Also, some languages are not always displayed correctly on webpages. This phone has 3G capability, but the screen is not large enough and full keyboard is not present to make full use of it.
My biggest beef with this phone was the quiet loudspeaker, which was annoying after several years of using Nokia 6020, whose speaker was sufficient for outdoor use. Now that I have bluetooth, this problem is resolved, for the most part.
The connector is proprietary and is flimsy, as some reviewers noted. Make sure your phone is really charging when you plug it in.
The standard earpiece that comes with the phone is uncomfortable and is not attached to the ear. Besides, I have not been able to make phone calls through the earpiece-microphone combination - something was not connecting. But Bluetooth does the job well. Note, however, that the phone does not play MP3 via Bluetooth.
When you are having a phone conversation and you want to start recording, you have to take the phone off your ear and find your way through the menu. It would have been nice to have a dedicated Record button, like they have on Nokia 6020.
Overall, as a telephone, the Naite works fine, but I have had a few dropped calls while driving; most likely due to handover issues.
I would place this phone into the entry-level, 3G-enabled phones category; not yet smart phones, but one step up from just basic phones. -
