"I Gotta Admit..."
Pros: Too Many to List
Cons: One GIANT con
Summary: I gotta admit that even though I was expecting A LOT from this phone, It had more than I thought!
This is my first 'smartphone' and it seems almost like a standard cell phone because of the 'fun' interface instead of the typical 'buisness like' interface.
I also usually agree with Cnet's reviews of phones that I've had but with this one I DISagree with in a lot of ways!
REVIEW-
First off, I'm NOT going to complain about some hardware things the phone wasn't designed to have like a FULL QWERTY keyboard or touch screen, but I WILL complain about certain things the phone clearly should have but doesn't.
CALL QUALITY- Was good and VERY clear but was a TINY bit quite. Not "Speak up, I can't hear you...WHAT? Apple or #&$*Hole?" I could cleary hear the person and they were loud enough for me but some people like the ear piece to be blaring. The speaker phone was surprisingly also VERY good! The person on the other end sounded VERY GOOD and they said I did as well! Overall, Call quality was above average.
And yes, I DID remove the plastic covering which is a VERY common mistake that makes some people unhearable.
PROS-
Everything you've already read from other reviews but alsdo some others...
2 Mega Pixel CAMERA- The camera is VERY GOOD! Cnet's photo is just a bad example. All you have to do is adjust the settings and the camera is one of the best I've seen! Whites are whites, blacks are blacks and colors are colors - I've seen NO orangey effects since I changed the settings! Even though the camera does NOT have Auto-Focus, the pictures look about the same as the ones taken with my LG EnV that DOES have Auto-Focus.
CAMCORDER/VIDEO RECORDER- I read on another site a review from one of it's editors saying "The camercorder is highly unimpressive. The videos are jerky and grainy." Well, all I have to say about this guy is that his vision needs to be checked because his eye sight must be jerky and grainy whether he's watching a video or not! The videos are very SLIGHTLY grainy and not jerky either - when compared to my LG EnV, the video actually looks better on the 'Shadow' even though the LG EnV records in a higher resolution(I don't understand but oh well) Both of them record/play their videos smoothley with out jerkieness but the 'Shadow' just looks better even in full screen! The 'Shadow' has a max video recording resolution of 177x146 while the EnV has 320x(I think 280). Again, I'm not sure how it's possible how a lower resolution video can look better!
Also, the video recorder can record a single video until the available memory is used up with out being cut of at a certain time limit like some other phones. The audio's timing is in line with the video as well.
Remember: changing the camera/video settings will fix the default 'orangey effect')
The screen is FANTASTIC! Great resolution (QVGA which is the best out right now). Even though it only displays 65,000 colors instead of some other phones that display 262,000 colors, I honestly can NOT tell the difference!
LAG- The phone does take 2-3 seconds to open certain apps but not all of them. The internet in VERY slow over T-Mobiles EDGE service which isn't nearly as fast as other networks 3G service. The internet will run alot better if you hook it up to a Wi-Fi conection but the phone does NOT support T-Mobiles 'HotSpot@Home" service where you can talk at a HotSpot for free but it DOES have the ability to use Wi-Fi for internet as I mentioned as well as the 'My Favs' feature.
The accessories it comes with besides the charger are pretty nifty - There's a case(Not the best in my opinion so I got a different one but the included one might be good enough for most people), ear bud headphone that are also the hands free headset, a USB cable to link it to your computer and a weird adapter that I will mention in the CONS section.
The GIANT CON-
The ONLY jack for one of the many accessories is an odd shape that ONLY fits the ear bud headphones/hands free headset but NOT the USB cable or even the dand CHARGER!!! What the HECK!!! You have to use an adapter just to charge the phone?!?! What if you lose the aadapter?! You have to buy a new one JUST TO CHARGE THE BATTERY!!! One decent thing with the adapter is that you can charge the phone and have you headset plugged in at the same time but you still CAN'T CHARGE THE PHONE WITH OUT THE ADAPTER!!!
I would give it a perfect 10 if it wasn't for the STUPID adapter issue, but I instead give it an 8.5 (they only let you pick a solid number rating like 8 or nine instead of a number like 8.1/.2/.3 etc.)
If your getting a new phone with T-Mobile and your looking for a 'smartphone' or just a standard high end cell phone, this is a phone to DEFINITELY look into!

The "ODD" shape that you mentioned STILL WORKS on the regular USB. I really dont know what the fuzz is about. I dont use the adaptor. I directly plug the usb.
