"All I Can Say Is WOW!"

    by wizwaz3 on June 18, 2005

    Pros: Most Everything

Cons: No Features for use with Camera, $20.00 a mo. for Sidekick Data Service

Summary: After reading the horrendous reviews people gave the Sidekick II, I still purchased the device and I have to say, people must have been looking for something wrong. The resolution on the built-in camera is low, and there are no fun features for pictures like other camera phones, but the camera is very good for the average cell phone. I get great reception even when the Sidekick displays only 1 bar. Or even zero for that matter. This phone was obviously designed with teenagers in mind, so I don't think that having no IR or Bluetooth will really effect it. Like I said, this device was obviously designed for teens, so the OS (Hiptop 2) is difficult to get used to and many adults don't even have time to learn. The Sidekick II is a great phone for teenagers, or adults who have the time to figure out the Hiptop OS.

The Sidekick2 has been a great phone for me and the 2.3 os update has made it even better. As with all innovative products it take a little getting use to because it's not common... but this is one very short learning curve. Almost like if Apple made a phone it would be this one. Very simple but clever interface for Teens OR Adults. All the expected features in a multifunction device of it's times. (I imagine the next incarnation will be w/mp3 player, sd card etc...) 2000 addresses, email, sms, web w/java script, sync-able outlook calendar_todo_notes makes it good for biz and tho it doesn't corps. email like a Blackberry, there are work arounds... Plus, games, ring-tones, AIM, Yahoo IM, even a paint program! And of course that keyboard that thumbs dream about! As an adult I also enjoy the loud speaker phone feature. And the CHEAPEST DIGITAL PACKAGE AVAILABLE! As my main business phone, I can't complain and again it's not as bulky as the LG9800 which brags an mp3 player... hey that's what IPODs are for.... Right tool for the right job...

T-Mobile "authorized dealers" in La Mesa, Ca who sell consumers the Sidekick II
are then selling car chargers for $29.99 that do not fit the Sidekick II. They refuse
to refund the consumer when confronted.
