Summary: I have to admit that when I first upgraded from v9 to v10 I was very disappointed. There just didn't seem like there was much change so I kept using v9 until I had the time to play with it. Now, I LOVE the newest version! The "Smart Photo Fix" is invaluable. I have just started using the "makeover" tools (which is new to v10) and really like the teeth whitening tool. The speed of rendering all of the effects is much faster than in previous versions. Once I found where Corel moved the tools and what they renamed them to, it is a breeze to work with the interface. I think I was disappointed at first because I have owned the program since v7 and the upgrades to v8 and 9 were HUGE! I was expecting the same with v10. Though the changes may be a bit subtle at first....once you get used to it you wont go back to the previous versions.
One thing I don't understand is why they took away Animation Shop that Jasc included with their versions. That was a disappointment.
I too, loved Jasc's customer service. They were so fast to get back to you. Corel is slower to respond..but, they do respond
One thing about the updates and patches. I had major problems with the update to 10.02. On the advice of support, I uninstalled the program completely with a file they sent me. I am still waiting for the fix on that. It seems to me that not enough testing goes into the new releases before they present it to it's customers. I never had that problem with Jasc. In fact, I was a beta tester for Jasc for v9...that is when you work out the kinks (in beta) not when it is released to the public.
If this is your first graphics editing program you won't find a better one especially at this price. I highly recommend it. They have a new learning center that looks like it would be great for the beginner.
