"Why does anyone need it?"
onSummary I don't even own a copy. Office 97 would still meet most of my needs if I used it. I presenetly use OpenOffice.org 1.0.1. It does everything I require. What really gets me is that Cnet chooses this bloated cow as number 1 in their list of top ten software titles for 2002 even though less than 50% of users responding gave it a thumbs up. In fact, four of the top ten titles in the software category were Microsoft products. Makes you wonder how much monetary support Cnet receives from Microsoft. I wonder if they bother to look at the open source software arena at all and the revolution that's gaining more momentum every day.

"Amazing software package!"
onSummary I have used it for hours and have not noticed any of the bugs many people complain about. I would suggest that most of the morons saying there are bugs have PC problems because they are morons and don't know what they are doing. Someone actually said you couldn't have internet explorer 5 or later...strange because THE OFFICE XP CD HAS IE 6 ON IT!!! Someone said it doesn't include Powerpoint....they are stupid to buy the small version of office anyway...some people are just stupid.

"good suite"
onSummary Don't know the system well enough to make a lot comments, I haven't worked with the other versions of Office. I like this one, but seems some simple tasks are not even options. Help stinks.

"Not as I espected..."
onSummary I had Office 2000 and just wanted to upgrade to Office XP because I thought it will change and make it better but I was wrong. Office 2000 is much more stable, faster, and easier to use than the XP edition. I think that Microsoft just think about style and loook than usefulness and quality. It is exactly as Windows. I had Windows 98/2000 and upgraded to XP and that was a big big mistake of mine... I loved 2000. As I said Microsoft is just design like Winx XP and Office. Want to try Corel now but im not sure if it is worth it. But take my advise, to not by Office XP, and if u want it just download it because it is a really bad product. I am waiting for Office 2003 to come. It seems more like 2000 for me. Thanks for read my opinion. Durante

"More of the same, too expensive."
onSummary I have used extensively all offices since 95 and find XP to have some funny problems that cannot be explained. Yes there are good features but nothing significant. With so much money and resources Microsoft is forever plagued with "cannot make a software for real end users" bug. It like selling you your old shoes cleaned and with new laces. How I wish Microsoft would talk to us and not whoever they talk too, and make the changes.

"Great Buy (if you're paying A$250)"
onSummary I have just upgraded from Office 2000 and Windows Me to Windows and Office XP. I believe my computer (a PIII 700 Mhz laptop with 192MB RAM) has never run better. Granted I am eligible for the education version and did not really need to upgrade, but I feel that this version is much more intuitive and user friendly than the previous version. I love the voice recognition - it evens picks my Australian accent! I have had no issues with Office XP (one week so far) and was needlessly worried by the (to me) excessively negative comments that have been made here.

"Gone back to 2000"
onSummary Absolutely hate that Outlook no longer supports Microsoft Mail. Mail is all we need for our small office of six machines. I certainly don't need the headaches of an exchange server plus the IT expert to run it. Outlook's "development" to curtail simple intranet mail is worthless. I tried Office XP at home where there's no need for MS Mail, and while there are some good new features in the suite, the interaction between Outlook, Word, and Norton Internet Security caused Outlook to freeze everytime an e-mail arrived with a Word attachment. After weeks of rebooting, finding no help at all in the knowledge base, I uninstalled Office XP and went back to Office 2000. It's more than adequate for what I need, and is mostly free of headaches.

"A lot of money, but a fair buy."
onSummary Íf youre using Win XP too youre othervise fairly fast computer whill from nowon only work upphill. It demands, if not the newest computer the computer that was byed yesterday (a fast cpu and a grat deal of ram) but if you hav all this and still got al lot of money left that you dont now what to do with this would be just the thing for you. A really god working tool for a person that works with the computer and a really funny program for me at home.

"Office XP is best office suite available"
onSummary Ive read about 100 reviews on this product and the prominent disarray with the product is bugs, yet I have yet to have any crashes with my product and it works fine. Have any of you considered that you may have a corrupt registry or program? The crashes could be coming from an external problem which has nothing to do with office xp. Its worthwile checking instead of dishing blame to MS. I'm running Office Xp without any service packs installed and have yet to be given an error report message. I welcome the new features in word, especially the integrated translator and the smart tags which allow for easy copy+paste formatting. Frontpage XP has a much welcomed tab interface which makes things more efficient and the additions to Powerpoint are truly comprehensive. Overall, this is a truly outstanding product and I highly commend it.

"First time computer owner Friendly"
onSummary As a first time computer owner, I find Windows XP easy to navigate and learn about computers on. I have had access to Windows 98, and quite like my XP version better. I don't understand what all the complaining is about.

"Microsoft can't leave things that work alone"
onSummary Why Microsoft keeps changing things that work (try doing a merge without using a Wizard in XP). Incredibly annoying. And yet, the things that they should fix, such as headers and footers (let's hear it for Wordperfect here), they never touch. I am not stupid, I don't need all these help screens, wizards, experts etc.

"Great Office Suite For Students!"
onSummary Office XP is a great office suite for students. I bought my copy of the Academic version today from Staples (currently $110.00) and I couldn't be happier!! I have tried a few other office suites and they don't even come close to offering the kind of features Office XP does (one even crashed during install). I highly reccomend this product for anyone who needs a high quality office suite that is moderatly priced.
-
"Overpriced bloatware"
onSummary Even quit using Office XP at work because, except for Excel, its more complicated andless powerful than Lotus Smartsuite 9.7. With XP's changing Task Panes, who knows what's there? In contrast, Smartsuite tabbed popup menus are organized, logical, and have offer better tools.

"Another Upgrade?"
onSummary Really people what is the big deal? At work I am lucky to use Linux. At home I use MS Office XP on XP Professional OS. I have used nearly every upgrade of each MS OS and Office Suite. And not paid a cent for any version. They have all been pirate copies. Save yourself the extreme frustration of throwing good money after bad on yearly upgrades of MS products. Use pirate software. And if you own a business – use Staroffice.

"TAKING AWAY MY FREEDOM"
onSummary Why can't Microsoft let things be totally customizable? I have the new Outlook 2002 - especially the Address Bar and those annoying(I) Information things (like telling me that the message has been reformated, or from which account I am responding). Also, why can't I select which account I will be sending from when I reply? And, worst of all, Outlook2002 requires MSN messagner. This is the first time that I have been really really unhappy with a Microsoft product.
-
"It's nothing but a prettier Office 2000"
onSummary Why won't microsoft understand that Office doesn't need more features or a face lift. It just needs debugging
-
"Useless for making huge documents"
onSummary Useless for making huge documents, it is impossible to create and maintain a good lay-out.
-
"This is a beastly, clunky suite."
onSummary This has many features, most of which are inconvenient or full of bugs.
