good idea, but needs work

Pros: Great bargin at $10-15/mo if you like to listen to all sorts of music- new and old.

Cons: Limited selection, especially if you like stuff from smaller labels. Also, BIG PROBLEM with streaming music- the Napster servers can't keep up. Lots and lots of interruptions in music for "buffering". Sometimes stops every 3-5sec to refill the buffer.

Pros: I've looked through the reviews of Napster and I disagree with what many people say. I had no problems installing Napster on my computer. I have a Creative Zen Xtra and have no trouble syncing my songs with it. I just wish there was a way to autosync

Cons: Napster is not quite as polished as ITunes, but then again it's hard to compete with a company that's centered on simplicity. I can notice no difference in Napster WMA's and ITunes AAC's. In the end, there are certain things I like about Napster, and th

Pros: Fairly easy and fun to search for music. Has quite a good selection of newer music. .99 cents a song is pretty fair. Preview song feature is very nice, if a little slow.

Cons: DRM. It is ridiculous that you pay for a song and there are so many restrictions on it. I can't use any of my burning software EXCEPT MICROSOFT media player which I don't like. I can burn a cd with NERO in 4 minutes, where it takes media player 20. Pain i

Leaves much to be desired

Pros: Decent selection, community features are nice extra, but....

Cons: Slow, buggy, glitchy interface. Had trouble playing some track samples. Interface is kludgy at best. At worst, it's a wannabe iTunes ripoff (that's nowhere near as elegant). Browsing for music is very unintuitive. Program failed to save my playlists of tr

Napster is back in name only.

Pros: Nice programs if I ever got to use it. Lots of songs to choose from.

Cons: Major drawback: Only works with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Windows ME and Windows 9.x users are left out in the cold. Not as many features as compared to a program like Musicmatch. Songs and albums are too expensive at $.99 per song and $9.99 per album.

iTunes blows Napster Away

Pros: It works, I guess. But why anyone want this over iTunes is beyond me. iTunes is bar none the best music player and online music store available for Windows...which is pathetic. But, it is the truth. It also won't work with iPod which is bar none the best

Cons: What's the point with iTunes for Windows available.

They killed the music!

Pros: Good prices for music. I like the subscription feature for streaming music channels. Good selection

Cons: Buggy software. Bad audio quality. Restrictive with their rights managment, I hate that! Interface is cluttered and annoying. No P2P. Using WMA audio format gives Microsoft too much of a hand in the music and they habitually have misused this power in the

Most of you iTunes folks know nothing about Napster

Pros: Napster is LESS restrictive than iTunes. With Napster the music you buy can be played on as many computers as you want. With iTunes you are restricted to 3 at a time. Only one portable player supports the iTunes format and that's the iPod. Almost every pl

Cnet review is mistaken

Pros: The Cnet reviewer is mistaken on a few points. For one, the music is not tied to one machine. The music you purchase can be played on any windows system with Napster installed. If you lose your music, or want to put all the music you bought from one compu

Cons: Software could be better organized. And DRM should not be on a product you purchase. I can buy a CD without, I should be able to buy online music without it.

Pros: It's got similar drm to apple (3 computers not 1) and a way to redownload, so backup is safer. I've got comparisons at http://www.techolio.com/onlin emusic with some other pricing observations.

Cons: The interface and network is initially buggy.

Hmm...

Pros: Large catalog

Cons: After all the hype, Napster 2.0 is disappointing. It has too many quirks, such as not labeling partial albums, and having to transfer files to Windows Media Player to use any other MP3 player, that make it too difficult to be worthwhile. Also, not being a

Not iTunes an Not iPod

Pros: Tries to emulate as many of iTunes features as possible.

Cons: WMA doesn't sound nearly as good as AAC. They didn't engineer the features of iTunes just tried to paste them together. iTunes does support streaming of playlists as long as you're on the same network, without any configuration... great in dorms. Napste

Great service! Definitely worth 10 bucks.

Pros: Has a great selection of music from what I've seen. Nifty user interface, easy to use, and some cool new features. Has an edge on services like Rhapsody, because you can actually download the songs you like and don't have to waste your internet connection

Cons: I've heard people complaining that its list of music is incomplete for some major artists. Hopefully the Napster people will hook up with more music people and get even more music as time goes on.

not exactly what I was hoping for

Pros: Clean interface; burning is done on the same screen. Fast searches. 30 second samples of everything. Good selection of POP music.

Cons: Napster is still young. There are connection problems from time to time when trying to stream a 30 second clip. Maybe my musical tastes are a bit unique, but i was greatly disapointed in the currently catalog. I couldn't find any music from artists like

Awesome... I love it!!!

Pros: The $10 a month premium plan is great. All I really want out of an online service is to be able to listen to albums. And for $10 a month, I can do that by downloading an unlimited number of songs. Sure, I don't have the right to burn the tracks or put

Cons: Tracks are only available in 128k wma format. I appreciate the price discount ($.99 a song, $10 an album), but I'd rather purchase wav format (full quality) music if I decide to buy it. So I guess that means I will still be buying CDs. I can see myself

Overall better value than iTunes, but certainly still has a ways to go

Pros: - Excellent value in streaming / tethered downloading an UMLIMITED number of tunes for $9.95 a month! - Support dozens of portable players (iTunes supports only one!) - Just as easy to download and pay for a single tune as iTunes - Great to be able to

Cons: - Message forum is running ANCIENT (and awful!) software - Great features are not explained as well as they could and should be - Extremely poor handling of soundtrack / musical genre (iTunes is slightly better) - Slow buffering of 30 second samples (i

Napster+Samsung=iTunes Killer

Pros: Napster+Samsung is huge! Having access to 500,00+ songs on a portable device with a FM transmitter for $9.95 a month + $400(est) for device. Try that with iTunes. You'll be thousands of $$'s in the hole.

Cons: As a Pressplay user for past year I know.. New music *sometimes* is slow to show up. Also, not as much variety in certain categories as I'd like.
