Very Light and Effective
Pros: Deadly to Malware. Quiet. Conserves Resources.
Cons: User interface is lean or elegant. You pick.
The user interface is very lean, which I tend to regard as elegant, but which some might regard as spartan. No matter though, this is great software.

I signed up just to write this review
Pros: great virus detection, low resources
Cons: a little hard to learn, but not that hard
I installed NOD32 and it started detecting viruses right away, you just have to get used to the configuration scheme and it'll work ok, it uses very low system resources and my pc works better than ever.

The best antivirus I have ever used
Pros: Very effective, value for money, customisable and a 30 day free trial!
Cons: Too technical for simple users, no firewall.
I used Norton for 1 year - that was rubbish.
Then I used Trend Micro PC-Cillin for 3 years. That ran quicker than Norton, and it WAS great for a time. However a nasty "rootkit" virus disabled my PC-Cillin, and deleted safe mode from my computer. Not good.
NOD32 detected the virus. (3 months later PC-Cillin still does not detect it even though they have agreed they will update their software). Not only that it detected about 20 other files that were infected that PC-Cillin does not detected.
Now PC-Cillin slap me with an $80 annual renewal.. up from $55 last year! (That's Australian Dollars).
NOD32 has a 30 day trial, and is cheaper than PC-Cillin. What's more it is fast, and does not use high system resources.
I would NOT recommend NOD32 to people who are non-technical as the user interface does not use clear language. For example, the Control centre gives you the choice of clicking on: AMON,DMON,EMON,IMON,NOD32 - what the heck does that mean you'd ask yourself!
However for the person who is not scared of clicking a few buttons it is FANTASTIC!
In my view it is a shame that there is no firewall to complete the package, but it is sold as antivirus software after all.
TRY IT!
8 out of 10 for non-technical users
10 out of 10 for technical users.
Overall 9 out of 10.

Don't believe the hype about NOD32
Pros: Fact is it outperforms any other AV independently tested. Has consistent top performance in respected independent analysis amongst many more well known products.
Cons: It's been relatively unknown and as that?s changing the occurrences of the ill informed who just show everyone how much they don't know is a little more common as well.
Excellent pro-active detection of new and evolving threats without the need for further updates - you should read that to mean 'When up to date at zero-hour' but test by av-comparatives.org have confirmed it's effectiveness without any updates for three months. No anti-virus has 100% detection but NOD32 really is the closest thing to being the perfect antivirus.

One of the handful of softwares that actually impresses me!
Pros: ridicously fast, dependable and stable, unobtrusive, really small footprint
Cons: has a learning curve - which really doesn't matter
I usually forget I have it installed, because I can't tell on performance whether it is on or not.
I get reminded whenever something tries to sneak in, which so far nothing have succeeded in doing - and which I fully expect nothing ever will.
The performance is truly stunning, this is the first AV I've tried that I have let scan my HD's during daytime when I need the computer. It is so fast scanning means a short coffee-break, rather than a long lunch and then some.
The interface is somewhat geeky, but not that hard if you're willing to give it a few minutes. Normally you won't have to use it anyway, as the defaults are good for most situations and users. You can also set the proggy to be totally silent if that is what you want, then it just works - not even reminding you of it's existence.
In the three years this have been my first-choice AV I've had it crash exactly once, as part of a major system crash - which makes it probably the most stable software on my computer, including the OS.
The review by Ken wasn't really fair at the time, it smells a lot like a "not made here" bias, and it has no bearing on current reality whatsoever - C|Net should really do it over.
NOD32 is an assembly proggie, coded by former east block low level programmers. It makes it stand apart in this era of high level programming and high resource consumption. You can easily run it on a pre millenium-shift puter successfully - which tells you the first half about the quality of programming. The second half is that it aces the virus bulletin tests and has the best record of any and all AV's whatsoever.
So how come can a review of a program that does more with less, better and more stable, without hassle - barely top average? How can C|Net let such a review stand in the face of real world facts?
Beats me.

Simply the best.
Pros: Small footprint, blindingly fast, infinitely configurable.
Cons: If you don't know how to use one of them there puters', this might not be the software for you.
Can't schedule virus scans? Bull. You can schedule it hourly. Daily. Weekly. Event triggered, schedule which antivirus profile you want it to use when it scans (it supports multiple profiles, depending on what type of scan you want it to perform, what drives, how thorough, scan only or scan and clean, notify or silent, logged or not logged, email reports to any email address, etc, etc, etc) schedule it to repeat itself on it's own if the scan fails to complete (system lockup, power failure, etc...). You can schedule it to do a full scan after a virus update. On boot. When you open a specific program. The list goes on, and on.
Not able to find and remove Kak? Bull. I tried it. It worked flawlessly. Faster than I could have even imagined, it found it, knocked it out of memory, deleted the file and threw it into qurantine. As I SET IT UP TO DO... Gee Ken, too used to Nortons rediculously shiny buttons and no actual options? Rather have an 80MB footprint in your systems RAM when using Norton rather than 12-15MB? NOD32 loads about as quick as notepad in XP. No, I'm not kidding.
Virus heurisitics? Please. It's the best. Rosenthal simulators, I tried three different ones, it functioned perfectly on all three.
Not scanning your email until it gets in your inbox? Bull. Ken, it supports POP3 port scan (110, but you can add ports to that if you like, depending on your firewall, etc...), as well as SMTP via Outlook. By it's very design, it is one of the best email antivirus protections there is. Hands down.
I don't know what product you were reviewing Ken, but I hope they leave you to the point and shoot digital cameras and MP3 player reviews from now on out, and leave the real tech reviews for people who know what Assembly language means (NOD32 was coded entirely in Assembly, or machine language, which explains its lightning speed and small footprint, just fyi).
I sent CNET and ESET emails regarding this review. I asked CNET to take it down, because when you Google NOD32 reviews, this is like the 5th one on the page. I don't work for ESET. I am not affiliated with them in any way. But I support well written software. People, this antivirus software is simply the best out there. Ewido, yes it's good. But it's slower than this. Kaspersky and Trend Micro also both are good. I use Trend Micro on my jump drive because it doesn't require an install. But they are not as effective, and have a much larger footprint. Not as fast. Panda is good too, but again, on an older machine, it will cripple it. It's to big, and too slow. I ran this on a friend of mines computer to get rid of some horrible Malware/trojans that were on her computer. She runs a PIII 500Mhz. It loads like a champ, and one I set it up, it is almost entirely transparent to even being on her system. Yes, it got rid of several pieces of malware, and fixed what adaware, spybot, and avg could not.
Try it out. It works for 30 days. Check out the settings. See how configurable it is watch how fast it scans your drive (my entire C drive, 36GB SCSI 10000RPM w/ 2.8Ghz P4 takes about 4 minutes. Compare that to Norton's 45 minutes to an hour). If you have a home network with shared drives, you can even scan these sectors. You can scan by folder, or even file, remotely. My 2 cents. Ken, shame.

Pros: Self-Updating, Awesome real-time protection, user friendly, quite inexpensive, great support, big virus database, doesn't take a lot of space, nice GUI.
Cons: Minimal, can't think of any.
But, NOD32 is simply flawless. It's very user friendly, updates and scans in the background while you work on the PC. Best real-time protection I've ever seen. A must have!

Almost too good to be true
Pros: Excellent detection performance, not a resource hog
Cons: None for me
I'm not the least bit interested in snappy user interfaces. All I want from antivirus software is that it keep the things I don't want in my computer out of my computer and otherwise stay out of my way. NOD32 does that better than anything else I've seen before. It is extremely unobtrusive and does not slow my system down AT ALL. ESET even makes the unusual claim that you may see a slight performance increase after installing; I'm not prepared to believe that without some serious testing that I don't have time for, but I can say without a doubt that it has no adverse effect on my systems' performance.
NOD32 has a stellar detection record, and is reported to keep out even adware, better than some of the dedicated adware prevention programs out there. What more could you want?

Cnet's review way out of date and not at all accurate
Pros: Small footprint, easy to automate, frequent updates, fast scanning
Cons: Doesn't scan Thunderbird emails
Nod32 from Eset is an excellent virus scanner, probably because it sticks with the job of being a virus scanner.
Norton and McAfee and others try to be a virus scanner, a firewall, a popup blocker, et cetera ad infinitum. These all-in-one's may do all of these jobs well, but certailny do not do them efficiently or elegantly.
Because Nod32 doesn't attempt to do other jobs, it can do it's one job very well, and do it nicely.
For example on demand scanning a local HDD with Nod32 is fast and doesn't slow a system to a crawl. Granted, it takes some time to scan through the large HDD's on most computers, but Nod32 does it with finesse.
Nod32 also has a nice variety of scanning options. I don't use outlook at home, so I was able to not only choose to not turn on the email scanner but to not install it at all.
Updates and scanning can be set up to run automatically on days and times of the user's choosing. When I had Norton, I would set the update and scan time, but they would never actualy run at those times. With Nod32 I can set the automatic options and actually sit there and watch them happen. The manufacturer, Eset, updates the virus signature database at least once a week, sometimes twice, so Nod32 is always ready to deal with emerging threats.
The only drawback, that I can see, is that Nod32 doesn't support active scanning of Mozilla's Thunderbird email client. There is of course a simple workaround, and that's active scanning of all internet traffic.
While Nod32 may not have the limelight of its bigger competitors, it defiently does not lay in their shadow; it shines all by itself.

The Best of the best security tools on the market.
Pros: Does not slow your computer like other security tools. Very efficient and user friendly. Regular automatic updates. The bottom line: you feel that something is protecting your PC.
Cons: Deep scanning very lenghy and not needed. The system scan is enough
NOD32 anti virus
Zone alarm firewall alone
Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy

The best anti-virus I've ever owned!
Pros: In-depth scanning, not a system resource hog
Cons: User navigation is difficult
I decided to conduct my own little experiment and you can imagine my unpleasent surprise when I saw all the trojans and worms living on my computer. Nod has detected them all and with one click they have been deleted.
Since I do a lot of downloading in my spare time I like to be protected up the wazoo. Antivirus is extremely important to me and after trying Nod I will never switch back to a name brand again.
I've read a lot of poor reports about the "supposedly best antivirus program" Norton and in my experience all of them are true. Nod doesn't hog the system resources and it's complete.
My only complaint is that people who aren't stealthy with computers will have a tough time navigating this program. But once you get the han of it you are impressed beyond belief!

This is definitely a best buy

Excellent , efficient and light
Pros: Use few resources, efficient and easy to install
Cons: Interface needs to be more simple
I installed NOD32 (look to virus bulletin) easily 3 months ago and it is very efficient. It runs silently and virus definitions are updated once or twice a day.
Thanks to ESET. I plan to discontinue with my 3 users Norton License (now only 2 users) as soon as I have to pay for next year. (also very difficult to access Norton Hotline and pay for a new year is a Minotaure corridor!!)

NOD is the DON
Pros: Superior security and minimal footprint. It's at least one of the best. Enough said.
Cons: Might be better with more tweakable config. Aside from that still looking for a con.
While I don't and never will consider myself an authority on this matter, I do work for a software company so I am able to differentiate my anus from my elbow when it comes to software.
I've used Norton Antivirus, system works, Panda Platinum, TrendMicro (which is good) and hands down beyond a shadow of a doubt NOD32 is superior in almost all aspects.
Norton's solutions are way over-hyped in my opinion, it sucks system resources.
And for all the hoo-haa Norton makes I've seen many virii and trojans sneak their way past its eyes.
NOD32 is like having your personal Consiglieri. You tell him who you want and don't want to see you in your office, and whether you want to hear about it or not. But there's so much more, but i'll leave it here. NOD32 overall, has excellent functionalities, offers highly effective and comprehensive protection and only asks for a minimal amount of system resources.
Pretty damn reasonable.

Whoa This beats NAV hands down
Pros: Very light on system resources. Customize every aspect of your internet and system files
Cons: Takes time to learn
None of the above come close to NOD32. It out performs, out smarts, and out does any Anti Virus solution on the market today.
If you need to unistall the program for whatever reason, it does just that. No messing with seperate (cough) live update modules and registry hacks.
NOD32 is very easy on system resources as well. You can customize to no end with this program. From e-mail monitoring, and yes you can monitor Mozilla Thunderbird, to advanced Heuristics. Unload seperate modules is easy to do if needed. I can't say enough about NOD32 and could go on.
FIY here is a link to a great tutorial for setting up NOD32

Pros: Fast, small foot-print, very effective software.
Cons: For AV alone, moderately costly.
It is a slow system hog, and creates only quite average to sub-par results.
