Pros It appears to be working, but I'm not really sure
Cons Tech support is useless, they just repeat your words back to you with no real solutions
Summary I'm not a computer novice and it took me three tries to install this program as an upgrade. First there's the "adware" that Norton finds and can't remove. Tech support sends you to a "removal tool" that can't detect the adware after all. I scanned my computer with two on-line antivirus scanners, neither of which detected this adware. I scanned my computer with two adware detection programs, neither of which detected this adware. Yet Norton kept finding it during scanning, but not with its repair tool. Very odd.
Tech support tells you to "feel free" to contact them with questions, but if you want answers it's going to cost you money.
Norton 2005 doesn't allow you to move its shortcut icons in the start menu. If you move the shortcuts you get an odd message telling you that the repair function is not working. Norton's fix? Put the shortcuts back where you found them.
Norton's readme file tells me that it may not work happily with ZoneAlarm. If I have a problem, I should turn off ZoneAlarm. Guess what? ZoneAlarm is here to stay. Norton will go first.
I've been a loyal, faithful user of Norton products since my Windows 3.11 days. This is the last time I will purchase this product. Maybe when I get my rebate I will purchase a different AntiVirus program.
"Very Disappointed"on by Lactra
Pros can't find any
Cons Read Opinion
Summary I have used Norton for 8 years this Anti-Virus is the worst! Don't use it if you are running a Creative Lab audigy 2 sound card it will not load right.Have installed it & uninstalled it so many times my fingers hurt.Even with phone help it is still not right.I am now looking at other apps. to bad I always trusted Symantec products.
Pros It's probably a good anitvirus, if it will work for you
Cons Will not work for me in Win '98, despite Symantec's claims otherwise
Summary Day four of my quest to "upgrade" from a perfectly working NAV 2002 to the new and imporved NAV 2005. This was apparently not a good idea. No matter how many times I tell it to automatically do a LiveUpdate, the setting refuses to take. The Knowledge Bank (or whatever) has an article about this exact problem, with a list of progressively invasive "fixes". None of these fixed my problem. My new buddies, Ravendran and Prabhakar (not making those names up), have been courtiously useless. I'm getting my money back and restoring my 2002, if I can find it again.
Pros Doesn't give you adware thats about it
Cons Doesn't work overpriced
Summary I have a thirty day trial so I got all the updates and put is to the test it sure found a lot of crap trying to install on my computer but it only prevented about 1 out of every 18 attack I would never pay for this program I would rather reformat every month than buy this
Pros Backgound virus update. Comrehensive virus library
Cons Customer service (in India) difficult to work with
Summary Two years running I have not been able to install NAV on my primary computer. The online avtivation does not work. Further, the phone based activation does not work. I spent more than 12 hours on the phone with tech support (India) over five days without solving the problem... I'm switching to McAfee (after using NAV for more than 8 years)
