Pros Reliable work, good firewall with convenient options, fast scanning, has no conflicts to other programs (including with Microsoft Security Ess.), does not slow down computer work. Automatic change of parametres depending on computer work.
Cons It's not revealed.
Summary Reliable system of safety for the computer. All wishes of users are considered. Modern and beautiful design. Set of useful functions without difficult options. Possibility of adjustment for more experienced users. Fast work does not influence speed of work of the computer. Well works with Windows 7. The note: if you wish to use Norton 2010 together with Microsoft Security Ess. - that at first is necessary installed Microsoft S.Ess. And then Norton.
Pros Good buy - as advertised
Cons Good buy - as advertised
Summary I've used a bunch of different security sofrware packages in the past. Today at work we have the new Symantec 2010 and I have to say that it does its job. It runs in the background, doesn't slow down my PC (Dell Latitude D630)...overall I've been happy.
Pros It came in a nice box
Cons Norton 2009 was way faster on my computer. I have a 1.6 ghz processor with 1 gb of RAM and Norton 2010 uses ALL of my performance when it runs Live Update. This program is awful.
Summary Hate it because it uses all of the CPU performance to run a program in the background.
"Big improvement"on by rocky
Pros Huge improvement in terms of load up time. No longer uses up all your resources. Interface looks great and it's easy to find everything.
Cons Doesn't give you the option to exclude blocking certain files so you have to do it manually, no biggie just inconvenient. Can't really see what the firewall is doing compared to BD and KIS.
Summary Very satisfied with NIS2010, easy to use, good design and haven't run into any problems like I did with Bitdefender and Kaspersky.
Pros nothing, none, nada, zip, zero, null, wait, let clarify that, there are no pros for this product
Cons Subscription expires and you completely lose whatever limited protection you had
Many folks have problems with the software to the point where there system is no longer usable
Summary I switched off Norton a couple of years ago after suing it for the past 10 years due to never ending and increasilgly difficult to resolve problems with their antivirus/internet security software. I decided to retry it because it was free after rebates. Mistaake!! A once great company has joined the pack of also rans. Now they sell you a subscription that when it expires you are left out in the cold with no protection at all. Of corse if you are unlucky, then the program itself never really works and creates more problems for you (slows your system, does not catch virus, Nortom's $99 service fee to clean your sysem when their software fails to protect you, etc) as time goes by. It just isn't worth the hassle or the money. Wish I could tell you what to use (I've had very good luck with MIcrosoft's OneC are but that is no available).
One last word about Cnet reviews. I have bought several products based upon Cnet's reviews instead of the general public reviewer's rating and without exception Cnet has gotten it wrong time after time. I now ignore Cnet's rating completely. Except for general information about the product Cnet reviews have been useless. I recommend you focus almost excleuively on the general public reviewer's rating . Best recent example for Cnet getting it completely wrong is look at their review of the HP Office Jet Pro L7780 printer. They loved it and it was totally worthless. I know I owned three of them. Problem was the printer's software was horrible; probably the worst piece of software I have encounted in my 30 years of playing with computers.
