Pros Parallels Desktop 8 lets you effortlessly and transparently run two state-of-the-art operating systems simultaneously with very little performance penalty.
Cons In light of the fact that Parallels Desktop 8 lets you run two completely different operating systems simultaneously, the small performance penalty goes to the vanishing point.
Summary When you consider that Parallels Desktop 8 lets you run an entirely separate and different, full-featured, state-of-the-art operating system on your computer - powered by your native host operating system - and when you consider the sorcery required to make this happen, it's astonishing that Parallels Desktop also manages to be one of the most intuitive, transparent, effortless, trouble free and reliable applications of all of the ones that I use. It really is like having a whole separate, full-speed and fully-capable computer. I can't recommend Parallels Desktop more highly.
Pros -easy to use
-seamless integration to Mountain Lion OS 10.x
-stays separate from OS unless YOU want to integrate it
-very acceptable start up time
-Runs Windows programs seamlessly
Cons -cannot number side keyboard if you have extended keyboard
-the only program I have found that doesn't work with is Wordperfect X5 and higher
Summary I am a former PC user/lover. There are certain programs that I use that are not available for Mac. I tried both Fusion and Parallels, and Parallels won handily. It is faster, easier to use, more intuitive and much more user friendly. The appearance is crisp and the resolution is fantastic. It is truly an outstanding piece of software.
Pros Does what it says it will do but doesn't tell you that it will also mess up your computers OS. Version 7 works just fine with Mountain Lion.
Cons If you use this product and also use Micromat's TechTool Pro 6.0.5 you will find that Volume Rebuild will always give you a red number which usually means a change that you don't want to make. It will also not allow for complete Volume Optimization.
Summary Buy this and suffer though a messed up OS. Would give it no stars if possible. Wasted a good 8 hours of time dealing with Micromat and Apple just to find that Parallels 8 is a piece of junk and was the problem. Have no idea how many files it damaged and each one I find Parallels is going to hear about it.

Pros Runs all my Windows programs that suck on the Mac side.
Cons Cannot think of any
Summary As a long time power PC user, I finally grew disgusted with all the craziness and instability of my PCs. Went to the Mac about 2 years ago and never looked back... until I tried to run the Mac versions of some of my long-time suites. Let's face it, there are just some software developers who do not recognize that Macs are serious computing platforms, and their Mac versions frankly, suck! So I really like having a familiar and stabile platform to run my PC applications, and Parallels 8 is just what the Dr. ordered. Very stable, not buggy at all, I love it.
