"Yahoo Mail used to be wonderful. Not anymore."1.0 starson by unmatchedprod
Pros: Looks pretty? I guess that's an advantage. Yahoo mail is probably fine for the "social" user - someone that uses their desktop software like they use mobile email. Conversations consisting of short messages would work well in this version.
Cons: Yahoo has removed the ability to multitask - only one email can be open at a time. They removed tabs, so you can't switch between mail or folders. And it appears that they've broken POP3 access - I can no longer access Yahoo Mail from Gmail.
Summary: I've used Yahoo mail for my business for 15 years. It never looked that great, but I didn't care. I could work on multiple emails at the same time, move things around in folders, store reference documents and refer to them - even years later - as they were easy to find.
Now, I'm seriously looking for a replacement. In one week, I've lost more work than I lost in the previous 15 years. I'm amazed that a company like this - this prominent, this popular - would make this type of change without any notice, without any testing (apparently) and without any safety net. I'm very worried that I'm going to lose 15 years of work - am attempting to get a new backup, but POP3 no longer seems to work.
I'd urge everyone to contact Yahoo, sign the petition at Change.org and do anything else to get Yahoo to go back to the old version.
