"Mirra - Not a good choice for Tech Professional"
Pros: Allows for a backup of files & synchronization (on ocassion)
Cons: Only works 1 in every 4 connections, and slows network to a crawl at times
Summary: If I were to beleive the features that had been inscribed on the side of the box I'd have thought the Mirra to be a personal FTP server/synchronization & backup NAS type solution I always dreamed of having. But, the Mirra does not deliver anywhere close to what the hype states and worse yet, everything done has to be handled through Mirras network website which disallows connections to the box an average of 3 of every 4 times in our testing and then only allows synchronization 1 file at a time (extremely disappointing results). On several ocassions we have waited for more than 4 minutes on a connection (hardly acceptable given our Mirra sits on a dedicated T1 circuit and has its own static IP). We don't filter through a firewall, and still we find that using DSL, Cable and even other T circuits our connections time out more than we can connect. After testing from several locations, we called Mirras support desk to ask how we might get our money back, but of course we ony got an answering machine, and were promised a call back would come..... still waiting for that. If given the choice, we highly recommend using any other backup NAS solution. But, if your a slave to low pricing and DON'T need a "readily available solution" except for that off the chance ocassion you can connect, then Mirra is the answer to your prayers.
